Good work on the rust monster slaying.

Here is another update.

Not too much different to look at, just a little cleaner and more solid.

A lot more mechanical work done though. She is alive, rolls and stops. Man it is a good feeling just to be able to put it in gear, roll it down the driveway and into the street and most importantly, be able to stop. Plus it sounds like a beast. Only has headers on it and it can wake the dead. Awsome!

Also have all the gauges working, dash lights and stereo installed.

Along with about 90% of the body work done on the fenders, hood and doors. I will get some pics of that soon.

Actually, it is the 70 model, based on the Skip Porterfield install we had in a tech article section (which seems to no longer be available). The 70 model is a couple gallons bigger than the earlier ones.

yep 70's is 22 gal I used a 69 model 20gal . did't want it to hang any lower on mine.

That is one heck of an insulation roll, where did you get it and how much did it run?

new wiring? is that an EZ wire kit?

Here are some pictures of the body filling I have been doing.







This has probably been the most time consuming stuff. Ugh, fill and sand, then repeat and repeat and repeat.

I like when I can see progress quickly, like exhaust. I bought an 8 foot piece with a 90 at each end, and with the glass packs I bought through summit racing, I am into the exhaust for less than $100., not including the headers.

I was able to spend a coule hours, while avoiding some sanding and filling, and get the main part of the exhaust on. Only have to finish the turn out in front of the rear wheel and the tips. Will need to finish the ends when I get the bed on.





I think I like the exhaust even more now. And I can actually hear the engine. It is a really quite engine. Couldn't be happier right now.

I was worried about that too. I ended up mounting my tank in between the frame and the top is almost level with the frame. To get the tank down later, going to have to loosen then bed and lift it, but I figure, "how often will that happen". I know, famous last words.

Thanks man. I appreciate the encouragement and taking a look at this somewhat stock build.

I got the insulation from home depot. I did a search on a lot of automative sites for insulation, then did a search for the actual insulation manufacturers and homedepot had the same stuff for a lot less than the car specific places.

The roll was 75 feet and it was $175 including shipping. It is enough to do two vehicles, and I got it for that reason. Also plan on doing my 63 Buick wildcat. This also includes doors, trunk, roof, everything as needed on both vehicles. I could tell the difference just in the sound right away.

Good eye. It sure is the EZ kit.

It is the EZ-21 kit. I got this kit because I am adding power windows and keyless entry and AC.

There are still many circuits I am not using, like electric fuel pump, fans, antenna, etc. but it is there "just in case".

I used this kit in my wildcat, so I was a little familiar with it.

Have had a chance to get out in the garage on the weekends, in the morning before the heat is unbarable. Got some primer on a week ago, then spent several evenings sanding until my arms felt like they were going to fall off. Glad that's done!





And was able to get 2 gallons of flat black on this yesterday.









Now I get to start assembling.

Assembling is the fun part. Nice clean parts to work with. You can work for hours and not get dirty.

Working on wiring and door stuff now. Then i can get it to the glass man to install the windshield, then I am done, well, at least for a little while.

Doing some door renovation right now.

Getting ready to install all new rubber and door channels, along with power windows and door locks.

Here is what I had to do with the vent windows.

I had one that was completely wasted and one that I was able to use as a template for the bottom bolt. Well, take a look at the pictures and you will see what I mean.










Here is the after for the first one. I ended up redoing my "template" bolt also.

I have a little more progress made.

I now have my first registered slick (not planning anything just yet), and I am posting some pics that I had to send to my insurance company so I could get the proof of insurance to take to the registration place.

I have the doors on, with the power windows, power locks and all new Dennis Carpenter door kit installed.

Here is one of the driver side and passenger side. They prefer garage kept, so I had to have both of my classics in their at the same time and take the pics.





The interior is just about done, with the exception of the headliner trim and other small stuff.



Also got my bed finished a few weeks back. Here is a look at R wood. It is a little more red, dark red, then it looks in the pic.




I am also noticing from the pics that it neds to be cleaned, inside and out. It's really dusty.
