Some E-Bay parts now what they really are

Post by 6166 Junkyard Dog »

As the heading states, will explain,, most know who we are and try to do no business here but maybe I should look the other way but after awhile it gets old...Anyway I want some of you to be beware of one in particular e-bayer buying rejects, 2nds or however you look its just plain scamming oh yes parts are good for daily drivers but not when flat out getting lied to saying what its suppose to be and not what its really about and now this is just not on 61-66 trucks but 67-72 as well a lot other things,, I will not say who this is but e-mail me or PM me and will tell in private so you will not get scammed out of you hard earned money ,, I know how hard it is these days to manage money on building trucks and I know if this happened to us boy I would be PO on buying parts or whatever whether it be on e-bay or wherever anyway just have to get that off my chest while here at the Moultrie Ga. Swap Meet

Just a update, we have been in Touch with Mfg. and they are now on top of it since last post, I have several e-bayers contact us, he is advertising parts on top of Ford Boxes that do not even fit in the box, one e-bayer is in touch with a lawyer, another has told us when leaving badfeed back what he thinks of him +++ also misrepresenting Ford by doing this,, +++ this person has been showing up at some of the swap meets in Carlisle, Pa. Charlotte,, Big Truck shows in Tn..,,, this is just not Ford Truck Parts but Car parts as well that is being done,,

Well some might be thinking I am just bitching about it for no sales to us, That is not the point here, point is the this makes it bad for other dealers as well , as well as the Mfg. and Ford also and want others to be aware of what is out there so do your research, we do and sometimes we do make mistakes as well when buying something

But ask yourself how would you feel if you got taken by that buying something, leaving good feedback only finding out you have been lied too, and at times it will be 10-15 items at a time he has sale

i am the type of person who sticks with those i have had a positive experience with regardless of saving a couple $ on a part. also will point others towards those businesses.

all of my dealings with you and Kathy have been great, including you returning calls while on the road, this is kind of unexpected and unusual in todays business.

i understand the reasons you do not plug your business in the forum but as a satisfied customer i feel i should at least let others know you are there.

To anyone who might think that Tom is throwing a conniption because he isn't getting sales:
Don't. Tom's dealings have always been honourable, fair and upright. Even when it cost him.

Thanks Tom
We all need to really pay attention to what we are buying if we don't know the supplier.
I have a real problem with "bearings" not made in the USA I open every box and look at each bearing to make sure.

we do buy and sell on E-Bay, what we put on E-Bay we do a lot of searching for what its suppose to be,, I have bought a things on E-Bay, some trucks, some parts, Heck my Mercury Truck came off E-Bay that was actually listed on Fordification Site, I have purchased Jack Russell Calendars, books and even Show me your hands How Many Remember the NY Worlds Fair :?: in the 1964, bought full glass set so yes I am just like everybody else looking for deals or something for our trucks like you guys/gals here but not looking to get shafted but when I see something like this boy it gets under my skin also,,

Just a business note Kathy sometimes twice a week runs to Charlotte at ourexpense to get stock items only for reason of its right or if quality is no good she know not to bring it back here and now running out west we are going to some of our suppliers on the west coast getting it to be sure its right as well since some items are being imported trying to make sure its good, Last trip in 77 4x4 cab it was full of all new parts from west coast suppliers for 53-72 trucks

Bottom line don't be afraid of E-Bay buying , just do a lot of homework on the seller, Read his/her feedback,,, Give the feed back on person when you recieve the part and check it to be true,, ask a lot of :?: ,, Some I see before giving bad feedback want to know , well that tells me that something could be wrong and they are expecting it,, On pay pal you can refuse it, if it has been misrepresented, I bought 1 truck in Ca. got it for less only the fact it was not stated the roof was ate out with cancer, if picking up the item, bring the write up on it so to be sure, even if doing a deposit by paypal and not right still can get money back over,, Just beware I see a lot things wrong that just leave alone unless it gets real serious

Tom has learned an important thing over the years (or maybe he was just raised that way)...reputation counts. If you've never met Tom and Kathy you're missing out.

I'd always choose to buy from people I know vs a big, faceless catalog company like LMC or NPD. Between Tom and Rick Allen there's very little I can't get for my truck. I've purchased off of Ebay and got some great deals but I've also been very selective on the pieces I've bought this way.

You guys who have not tried Flashback F100's...what are you waiting for? :D

one of my big issues with LMC is they will not ship thru the post office, therefore i cannot order from them, so the only time i ever bought from was at their store in KC while at slickstock.

e-bay now only takes paypal, so no more of that for me .

Dennis Carpenter will ship thru the post office, but you never know until you get the package what is missing due to "back order"

Classic auto parts also shipped thru the post office.

when i talked to Tom i knew i was speaking with somebody who knows the trucks and cared about what i was interested in. shipping was not a hassle and neither was payment. i also knew i would get quality USA parts.

i dont have a lot of money but i wont buy cheap quality imported stuff to put on my trucks.

If it was NOS it would have argent/silver paint on the inside of the rings to match with the inside of the speedometer surround on the chrome 65-66 dash bezel.jim :? plus I'd like to see him ship it in that box

So is Carolina Classics good to buy from? I bought some rubber grommets from LMC or ??? (the oval ones that go in the engine compartment), which was only about two years ago. Recently while I was at home all three had come apart and fell out and were on the ground. Is there a good place to buy rubber? Who is Tom, Allen, and Kathy? If they have good customer service I have no problem paying more for good service and quality parts. Thanks to you all in advance. Looking forward to returning home and being able to do stuff to my 4x4!

I just happened on this supposedly NOS part and remembered Tom's post. I asked the vendor two questions, how the could confirm the part was NOS and how it fit in the Ford box shown in the ad. I also mentioned that from appearances the part was a "refurbished" piece.
Haven't had a reply yet.
As Tom mentioned it is up to the buyer to protect themselves. Ask questions and if in doubt don't buy the item.

As an occasional seller on E-bay, I feel I have a responsibility to the buyer, also. I have to make an honest description in my ad and to respond to questions truthfully. I have made honest mistakes, and it has cost me to make right. Because of that I still have a 100% positive feedback rating.

I had a good experience buying patch panels and cab mounts from them. Great fit and quality, they make them, and the price was decent. As for rubber products I do know a few on the forum have had trouble with the LMC pieces, and many have recommended Dennis Carpenter.

As others have said, buyer beware. Perform your due diligence and know what you're getting. Is the product made by the seller? If not, can the seller tell you it's origin? Will they back it up if you have issues? Do some searching here and I'm sure you'll find plenty of frank and honest opinions on vendors. The membership here is a pretty outspoken bunch.

I haven't ordered anything from Tom, but after reading this thread I'll definitely check out Flashback F100's the next time I need some parts.

I agree with everyone here and especially Tom about some of these parts. I have bought many parts from him at the Moultrie Swap meet over the past 5 or 6 years. He does know these old slicks for sure. I just talked to him on the phone about building me a steering column for my (now, finally) power steering, automatic truck. I'm going to pick it up at the swap meet in February. What service, huh? Thanks Tom. Keep it up.

as far as Carolina Classics I worked for Rick for several years and have known Rick since he started Carolina Classics even though he is our competion we get along and we still help each other when we can or ask ?'s to each other as far as this item the only way to get this part is by rejects or 2nds/3rds,, since very 1st post we have had opne e-bayer contact us saying a lawyer is gettin involved another e-bayer has some very bad things to say , the MFG. Is aware of this since I brought it to there attention with paper work all sent in to us,, this is pertaining to just not 61/66 parts but other years,, also anybody that has gone to the Supernationals or Pigeon Forge or Ford Carlisle this same person is selling there as well so its just not a e-bay item,, This type of dealings or scamming however you look at it affects everbody here,, rest assure that I am taking this matter to se how far it goes,, he also selling 48-56 67-72 and 73-79 parts,,, Tom
