Slick 60's

Hi all im new here and ive just brought a 62 slick but the chassis is no good so i need another one so whats the latest year chassis can i use

depends on the wheel base as to the length you can use without modification. cab mount points are the same up to 64.
there are folks on here that know way more than me about that. hopefully they will chime in. welcome to the site and check out the "oz" section way down at the bottom the forum home page. there a few few of you aussies here.

Chassis no good how? wrecked,rust through, or just worn components? Worn parts can be rebuilt or replaced.

sorry its a short wheel base and im having trouble trying to find a ealry 60's chassis for it so i want to know if i can use a 70's chassis for it ? i dont know to much about these things its my 1st project so every day i learn some thing new

there is nothing besides a 61-64 frame that you can directly bolt your body and running gear to.
however,
short wheelbase stayed the same for many years, and if you are willing to do some slight modifications to a later - up to 79- frame its not too hard. you will not be able to keep some things, like steering column, front axle from your current frame.

this also depends on how you are using the truck, as there are some crown victoria frames being used by members here. again, modifications necessary.

what chassis mods will need to be done ?

You have bigger problems....your steering wheel is on the wrong side...

Are you sure thats a 1962 truck cab? It looks like a twin-Ibeam cab to me. For the other guys on this forum look at the recess in dash for steering column and the trans cover. What you guys think?

i agree brien. but it must be an early 65 because it has the floor mounted throttle pedal...unless they went with that longer down there.

im not sure. i was told it was a 62 what year do u think it is its good to see my 1st project is off to a good start

I agree, the general shape of the floor, the way the seat mounts and the taller roof cap definitely looks like 65 or 66 to me.

tregs, Glad to see you made it here!, I agree with the dash recess comment and it doesn't look to have the recess in the roof!, can you get a better pic of the roof ?. Another thing they will need to know is what are the plans for the truck?, restore, restomod or pure hot rod!

I might being selling a 65/66 rolling chassis with a 351 clevo and manual box soon, just not quite sure of what I want to do with it yet! where do you live?. I`m in Penrith.

Welcome from West Virginia!!! and for my , it looks to be a 65,66 since there is no step at the door..... which makes the swap a whole lot easier... I bolted my 66 directly to the frame of a 76 with no mods... I do have a little bigger gap between the cab and bed and had to re-drill the mounts for the bed but that was it.... pretty straight forward....

Yep that's a twin I beam cab. Not sure about in Australia but a US 1965-1972 short bed frame is a perfect fit 115" wheelbase. 1973-1979 US shortbed cab wil bolt to frame but 117" wheelbase and bed will have to be redrilled to fit.

That looks like way more work than you want to get into for a first project so I am willing to help you out before you scrap it . Cut the passenger side ( your passenger side ) of the dash off and send it to me .
