Well...I guess you guys have infected me, bought my first slick earlier this year and I think I'm headed out this weekend to obtain my second. Probably should have never bought the 18' car hauler, there's no hope now.

Cory: You have $$, a trailer and land to put them on:):).....seems like you have all the ingredients:):)

I'm jealous, because I don't have the space to store more, and I have no trailer, so I always have to impose on friends.....so I'm really trying to use self-control....but stuff like that '63 Merc 1/2ton I posted in someone's thread a day or two are really putting my self control to the test:)

my progression of disease known as slickitis:
having suffered from bumpitis for many years (yes that is also an affliction, ask ezer) and searching for another old ford 4x4, i find a 63 straight axle truck. wife thinks i should try something new and it looks like an easy conversion so i jump in and buy it.
very shortly thereafter i enter the internet age by getting a goofy thing called web tv. first thing i find is a group of people with 61-66 trucks and cannot believe that many are still around and what is being done.
a few months later, fired up by what i see i begin to dismantle the 63 for restoration.

now, this is where the symptoms begin to really take effect. i find a 65 f350 and decide i need to have a slick to drive while working on the first one.i buy it. needing tires i take a ride in the 65 to visit some of the places i know have used tires for sale. the owner of one of the shops has a 66 f250 4x4 that had been hit hard on the drivers side. i see the parts for my 4x4 conversion and buy the 66 for $400.

now up to 3 slicks in less than 6 months.

one day im at the gas station in the 65 and a guy walks up and offers me a free 63 flareside he has stored that must be moved. enter #4.
i have a friend with a salvage yard and i make a deal to strip 61-66 trucks and sell parts on evilbay and split the profits. i realize theres gold in them trucks and begin to hunt down and drag home cheap unwanted and free slicks.

i keep working on the 1st truck and drive it for the first time while many miles away, the greatest event ever takes place for the first time, slickstock.

my wife gets her own slick.
the disease continues to progress and my yard is filled with slicks and even a slick bus filled with parts.

its now 10 years since i got the 1st one. including the ones i have stripped and sent to the crusher, there been well over 20 slicks here.
one left last night, off to the crusher. kind of sad but there was nothing useful left on it.

i have space to keep them, i like working on them, my wife and friends are enablers and i make some $ on parts.

i have what is known as
"advanced terminal slickitis."
the terminal part refers to those who would try to take them away againt my will. they will be terminated.

The only truck my Dad ever bought new was a 65 F-100, 352, three speed.
Slickitis is hereditary!!!!!!!!!

There is no cure. If you run out of money to buy, you'll find it somewhere. If you run out of room to put them, you'll find it somewhere. It gets worse if your wife also gets Slickitus.

Again, there is no cure...and to make things worse, I fell in love with a Black 69 Bump this weekend. I may have become infected with Bumpitus also.

The 64 I have now is #12 if that tells you anything.
Had things been a little different I may have kept the Uni too.

Gotta love the 18 foot dovetail car hauler. I pulled home a 72 last weekend for the engine, trans, and other parts, then I'll haul it to the crusher. Mine has a 2 speed manual winch on the front that will pull up a truck or car with ease. With 2 slicks in my shop, I have the bug also.

Here's the newest edition, 61 Uni LWB, stopped at Quake Lake near West Yellowstone Montana on the way back and snapped this picture. It has a 292 Y Block so I guess I just joined the Y Block family as well. Both doors are good and straight so that will save me some time on the short box 62 Uni.

I don't know? They are 5 lug wheels, innies. I'll have to look, if so there is three matching and one oddball. There is also a spare tire mount in the bed.

i like the slicks but i'd personally like to go a little older with my trucks.....early-mid fifties ford f-1's make me drool.

but i'll never part with my slick....my dad bought it for me so it's goin' nowhere

Good score Cory. have you got a hood your not going to use? There is a guy I just talked to who lives here in the valley he is building a 1961 LWB UNI pro street and he needs a hood.
Great background too.

If I can say one thing on this truck is in really bad shape it is the hood, he's welcome to it once I get the engine out so it's not exposed but the bad news, it's rusted through on the front and the drivers side where it mounts to the hinge is either rusted or just tore through. I guess if he wants to repair it's his.

Sounds like the same issue he has now. I haven't seen the truck yet but I will soon. He has asked me to do some work for him. He is a long haul flat bed truck driver. Some of the things he wants to do to the truck he doesn't think he is up to.
