Slick 60's

Has anyone installed one of these Vintage Air systems? I've seen in magazines and such that guys have put them in '61 or '62 trucks, but the Vintage website only lists '50's or '65 units. Does anyone know which system will fit a '62?

Classic auto air is another option. I hear their kits are very nice and easy to install. I looked at both companies and decided to go with Classic Auto Air. I have dealt with them for my 68 Lincoln Continental in the past and they have great customer service and quality parts.

I put one of the vintage air systems in my sisters '54 F100. It was fairly straight forward. I switched her yblock over to an alternator at the same time to allow for the compressor to mount.

I used Vintage Air in my 63 and I am happy with it here in Phoenix. I used Freeze12 instead of R134A, it works closer to R12 with just a slight increase in cost over the 134A.
I had 134A in my Model "A" and it barely cooled the car. I switched it over to Freeze 12 and now it works awesome even in Phoenix.
My truck has the mini space saver in it and I still had to remove the glove box to get it up out of sight. It could be mounted differently and save the glove box.

I checked out the Classic Auto Air system. Its a bit less expensive than the Vintage option

Take a look at the Tweety Bird build in this forum. We mounted the Vintage Air unit and it fit like a glove. If you're doing a resto or a hot rod, notice how we put mounting studs in the top of the dash for the brackets for the evaporator to mount to.
Sure made things nice and clean.

I have the 16" mini space saver , cool only model. Heater was working fine so bought cool only model. Have a ranger with bucket seats so installed under dash in front of console. The classic and southern air units are alittle cheaper to buy. Mine works great for small cab.Three speed blower on 3rd setting is like 200 mph . You have to cut and fit hoses,condenser,drier, made bracket for compressor at welding shop,cut hole in firewall for evap. lines. Iam slow and install was about 60 hrs. Love the air . BEST mod. Tony
