Hi all, new here.

Does anyone know what replacement front shocks would be for my truck? Mine are just pieces of rust. Are they the same as the F250s?

My truck has leaf springs front and rear, with NO shocks in the rear (go figure). I've done some searching online, Monroe etc., but usually come up empty when searching for parts for my F350 2wd.

Jimbo,
Welcome aboard! I had a similar situation with my 62 F-250 4 X 4. My shocks were shot and pretty well rusted in place. It took a lot of patiennce, penetrant and a little bit of heat to coax 'em off! Figuring I had the hard part done, I went off to find replacements. I even had the part numbers off the old shocks (from Midas in the 1970s!) Anyway, none of the listings that cross referenced at ANY auto parts stores worked...and I tired 'em all.

Luckily, A friend of mine works at an off road truck shop and he was able to help me out. We removed the shocks and measured them; fully extended and fully collapsed. Then we took those measurements and found suitable shocks using the manufacturers dimensional charts. Rancho, Superlift and Skyjacker all have the dimensional data available since there are so many diiferent types of chassis, lifts, etc over the years.

The trick for me was to find the stud/stud mount for my fronts. The only company that had 'em was Skyjacker so that's what I went with. They're top quality gas charged shocks. They really tame those big Dana axles. They look good too if you're trying to keep the truck stock looking. Plain white tube with a black boot. Cost was about $55 per shock. I'd give you the part numbers but it wouldn't help since The '65 has different shocks than the '62.

By the way, I installed a matching Steering Stabilizer too. It really helped the handling. Best of luck!
