Who has converted their points ignition to Duraspark?
How do you like it?
Thank You!

My 66 F250 had the Duraspark II set up on it when I bought it. The PO had installed it but had left the autolite 1101 with the spark control valve on it, so the vac advance didn't work with it. That considered, it still got better mpg and was definitely more responsive than the stock autolite/load-o-matic that replaced it or the carter yf/ points dizzy I have on it now. I only took it off because I tried the HEI swap and I ended up burning up the DSII dizzy

I will be switching back to it once I get the dizzy rebuilt.
With my 300 4spd 4.56 rear and 30" diameter tires I currently get about 9 mpg hwy/ 12 city. With the DS II setup I was getting more like 11 hwy / 14 city. Probably would've been better if I didn't have the autolite carb on it.

I have it on mine. I have the duraspark HEI setup. It is pretty simple and seems to work really well. I did the HEI module version because I used to drive around in a 78 chevy van and had a couple modules laying around. If you already have the carter carb it should work out well for you.

just go to a junk yard....ahem....proven parts emporium, and take the whole setup off a truck , dizzy ,module, and wiring harness. I've done that swap a couple of times and it beats the shit outta points. Jeff

One thing to be careful of is to not use the resistor wire from the old dizzy on the dura spark. Run a new wire.

Hi Fellas,
Will the Duraspark stuff off a car NOT work on a truck?
How much of the wiring harness do you need to make the switch?
Hi BWF,
Were you able to locate the Duraspark stuff you were looking for?

i have been doing the duraspark change for a long time. mostly on v8s but it always worked great. if you will look at the pickup in an msd dist and a duraspark dist they will inter change, its a very good swap for the $. also do not forget to regap your plugs .040-.045.

I know this post is titled Duraspark 2, but be aware there is a difference in run voltage between DS I and DS II. Be certain of your requirements before ditching the resistance wire!

Thanks for the replies.
I have been to six junkyards.
All the trucks have had these parts stripped.
It is getting difficult to find parts in my area.
