I would think you would need separate the front and rear brakes. And extend the lines to the appropriate side of the master. Other wise there is no reason to switch to a dual master...

I've had people say they didn't use a a safety valve or adjustable combination valve in their system, and those that did...
I did but haven't made any adjustments at all..
