I am building a 66 f100 with a 351w. I have put AIM 3" drop beams and disc brakes off of a 78 f100. I was thinking about putting airbags on the front of it. I know it will screw up the camber when lowered but Im not planning on driving it when they are down. Just for looks. I know it is possible because I have seen airbags on twin I beam trucks in magazines. My budget is also limited. I am new I love the site and would greatly appreciate any responses. Thanks

Hey man,

I am curious to see if you could actually do that? (you said you have seen it before) This could also be another option for me...as I am trying to lower my 65..as long as it is not too much $$$$. I have 3" drop beams with 77 f100 disc brakes on my truck..I will check in later to see what others say :D

With enough fabrication anything will fit. But it might not work.

Like you said it will screw up the camber, but if you air them up when you drive it might work.

I would be sure to add a sway bar as the Bags will alow your truck to sway more that a spring would.

You never know till you try!

I think it would look like the axle was broken when lowered and will look a little stupid. :2cents:

It can be done. Aim sells a kit for it at www.truckin.com this is what iam going to use once income tax comes. It is hard to find but the kit is the ford IV kit for 65-79 trucks with stock i beams. They give you a lower bottom bag cup if you are running drop beams.

Adding air bags to dropped I-beams is very do-able. If it was me, I would add digital pressure gauges for the air bags. That way, you can put it right back to where it was aligned by the shop. The stock Twin I-beams already have an appetite for front tires without adding another variable.

I've seen them on a late model Ranger with I-beams. I know it's a newer, smaller truck, but it did have I-beams and it did have bags. And it went in the weeds when they were empty! :rocker:

That sounds like a awesome idea. I wanna slam my 65 but not easy getting parts here in South Africa. Airbags I could get though, so please keep us informed if anyone does this...
