Slick 60's

I have a buddy that just bought a '65 F100 and wants to put PS in it. I have an extra box from a '71 F250. Will it fit and is this a good swap or should he look elsewhere? $ is an issue.

it will fit, f100 and f250 use the same but there are steering column issues to consider.if you still have the f250 column, that will be easy.the 3 spoke 65 steering wheel will fit on the newer column as he probably does not want the 2 spoke ugly wheel.

I have a 75 f250 in my 65.If you use the original column it has to be shortened.Not hard to do.

Hmm, ok thanks Ice. I don't still have the column, but I do happen to have a spare '65 col. sitting around. I don't see a lot of difference in the two cols ('71 v '65).

65-66 are like manual columns from 67 until whenever they stopped putting manual steering in.

So the 67-72 guys have us covered. Read all about it over there. Very good FAQ, pics etc.

One thing to beware of is that on the F-250 Trucks gear boxes are the same but the F-250 can have a Pitman Arm that is the same as the 100 or it can have the Pitman Arm that was used on the 250 & 350 Trucks depending on what the GVWR'S are for that truck, one drops down on the 250/350 trucks 100/250 's is kind of even with a little drop

Junk yard, mine is a Camper Special, so I bet it's the heavier duty pitman arm. Thanks guys.
