Re: Gonna be asking a LOT of questions here....be prepared!
While I have not met Keith personally as he is a fellow Nebraskan, I have lurked around the Fortification site for some time. He is an absolute wealth of knowledge. He has pages and pages of technical information, part numbers and factory brochures. I can't imagine why we would turn down anyone who ...

Re: Evilbay search for f100 in old car parts
As an example, if you are looking for f100 mirrors, type in: f100 mirrors -fits You need the space between the part and then the word fits with no space. That will eliminate all the multiple sellers who include fits in their description. You can also use the space and type in any other word to elimin...

Re: Battery location
It seems I read a while back that the battery on 4x4s and F350s is under the floor so that it didn't get overheated when running a PTO for extended times. Not sure where I read it, but it is a possible reason.

Re: 4x4 knuckle ball seal kit
The 12 bolts are Ford part number is D4TZ-3132-B, obsolete and out of stock at all my usual sources. Try rearcounter.com. They can notify you if/when someone lists them. Jeff's Bronco Graveyard did carry them, but none there now, maybe they can notify you if they get them in. I don't have the GM or ...

Re: Wipers won't turn off
I know you've all been sitting on pins and needles for my update so here goes :D : I pulled a motor, bracket, switch and intermittent relay (governor) from a 79 F150. The bracket is slightly different than mine and would not bolt up. The mounting posts for the motor to the bracket are completely dif...

Re: Wipers won't turn off
The truck is a 1966 F250 4x4. I removed the wiper arms and hooked up the transmission arms. It still ran when turned off so I adjusted the small rectangular tab you see in photo #5 from ret to adv until I was able to get it to stop at the end of adv. However, when I put the round cap back on, the mo...

Re: Wipers won't turn off
Michelle, you are on the right track. Some progress today. If you look at photos #4 and #5, you'll see a small rectangular tab. This tab rotates the round circuit board with the red, green, black and yellow wires left and right in the direction of the arrows..... ret and adv. When I bench tested the...

Re: Wipers won't turn off
Thanks Michelle. The first photo sorta shows the ret-----adv arrow. I did try to run it again after my "cleaning" and now it doesn't work at all. I do get 12 volts from the green wire. Not sure what the small yellow wire is to the motor itself. I think this may be a replacement motor from ...

Re: Wipers won't turn off
I pulled the wiper motor today and noted the cover didn't look at all like the one in my shop manual - round cover versus oval cover in the manual. It does have a cover that has an arrow pointing to the left and says ret and arrow to the right that says adv (I presume retard and advance). No mention...

Wipers won't turn off
I did a search of wiper problems and didn't find an answer to my problem. The wipers on my two speed setup won't shut off so I simply unplug the switch. I got caught in the rain two weeks ago so I had to pull over and plug thee switch back in. Naturally, two minutes later the rain stopped so I had t...

Re: I bought another one.
Nice truck Greg! Let me know if you ever drive it up to Omaha. I had a very similar truck I bought in 1980. Mine was an automatic 352 and the opposite paint scheme blue/white/blue. I sold it two years later when the landlord told me I had too many cars. I kept the Datsun B210 and sold the F250. I wa...

Re: How many crewcabs built in 1966?
My book "Standard Catalog of Light-Duty Ford Trucks 1905-2002" by John Gunnell shows F250 one F350 crew cabs for 1965 and 1966 only. It does not show a production total for crew cabs in any category. As I recall there was a way to tell if they were built by Ford or sourced out by the type ...

Re: Funny CL ad
Looks like he sold it and it has been removed. It was a well-worn 1980 F250. I did copy his description before he removed it. I know what your thinking, How can a truck this bad ass exist. Do you have what it takes to drive a rolling legend. First, Get yourself a good baseball cap, something with m...

Neutral safety switch wiring harness on manual trans truck?
Maybe I have too much time on my hands snowed in on these cold nights as these odd ideas pop in my head. I am considering installing a hidden kill switch. If I wired the negative side of the coil, it would be easy for someone to know what it was. So I remembered when I switched my 64 Fairlane from a...

Re: 4x4 axle knuckles
I'm not finding 140wt locally. I even checked John Deere and TSC, but no luck. Not much on a Google search so I'll probably go with a 50/50 mix of Lucas 85w140 and STP.

Re: 4x4 axle knuckles
When I first read this post and watched the video, I thought 140wt couldn't be right since my Ford manual calls for 80/90wt and it would get mixed with the front differential 80/90wt. I checked the Dana manuals and found 140wt is indeed correct for the knuckles and that there is an oil seal on the a...

Re: changing Fords
I saw one in France a month or so ago as we were driving down the highway. It looked really nice from what I could see, wish I could've gotten a better look. I only saw one full-size truck, a late model F150. Not many trucks at all over there, mostly funny looking, boxy mini vans. So I wonder why th...

Re: 66 f250 4x4
Nice project. I wish I had room to do another. I'm going to tall skinny tires in the spring, probably 235/85r16. The 4x4s did have a single motor mount on the front center cross member and two motor mounts on the rear. Keep us updated.
