Re: Frying starter solenoids
I was using a BDW from OReilly...switched to Standard brand on the last one and I didn't even get one start out of it...I also just switched out the ignition switch and no change.

Re: Frying starter solenoids
I also see diagrams online that show the battery side of the solenoid is the same side as the "s" circuit, and diagrams showing the battery side on the same side as the "I" circuit...which one is correct, because that could be a issue...I am running on the same side as the "...

Re: Frying starter solenoids
I will double check what I do have wired. I do not have the truck completely wired yet. I have the ignition switch hooked up only so I can move it in and out of the garage. So I have the HEI hooked to the run (red/green) on the ignition switch...there are no resistor wires present as all wiring was ...

Re: Frying starter solenoids
"I" terminal was running 12v when I have ignition switch on, whether in start or just on. I'm fairly certain I have something not correct with wiring. That's why I was hoping someone can just give me quick rundown on what wires from the ignition switch should go where...the truck would sta...

Re: Frying starter solenoids
Clicking solenoid sounds like a dead battery or poor connection. I'd check for rotten cable from the solenoid to the starter. For now....be sure the truck is in neutral...use a jumper wire from the positive cable connection on the solenoid to the S connector on the solenoid. With the key on you sho...

Frying starter solenoids
I keep frying starter solenoids (4 in 2 weeks) and can not figure out why. I do not have full wiring in the truck yet just have the ignition switch hooked up so I can start the motor to move the truck in and out of the garage. Right now i have wiring hooked up as such: out of ignition switch...yello...

Re: Duraspark II and factory ignition switch wiring by color

Re: Jack's '65
Got all the fuel lines and brakes lines completed and fastened to the frame. They could definitely look better and be more straight on the long runs and the bends could be nicer, but this was my first attempt at line bending and flares. Any tips on straightening tubing out there? A little late but f...

Re: '61 Uni restoration
Body and paint are the things I'm most comfortable with as well, but most likely going to farm out what's left to a shop in town...too messy to do in my home garage and I am running out of time and getting antsy on getting my truck done! I look forward to seeing how it all comes out!

Re: Cut springs = how much drop
I cut 2 whole coils off of a set...then let it settle for about 6 months (long project going on here). I don't think they could have bent the beams enough to compensate. Needless to say those springs were replaced and the truck was put back to stock height until I can purchase the correct parts to l...
