Re: 1000 miles and 20 hours of driving for a bed
Just curious..... What's a bed like that worth ? whistle.gif 600 big ones... I am just curious if this is the first time you guys met someone thru Slick 60's ? We didn't meet just the guy, Manny, that had the parts. Bill W has hooked me up with some good parts as well. Never actually met anyone fro...

Re: 1000 miles and 20 hours of driving for a bed
Yeah I'm pretty stoked! We did the drive non-stop so I just took a power nap and now I need to go power wash the old desert dust off the parts and see how sweet they really are without the dust all over em!

Sweet ride! I like your plan of not tearing it down! I did just that and haven't enjoyed driving my truck in 6 years

Re: Jack's '65
Got the truck back from the exhaust shop! It sounds great...went with dual 2-1/2" with flowmasters exiting in front of rear wheels with chrome tips welded on. I have a video but not sure how to get that posted since photobucket won't upload it and not sure if the Facebook links worked from my l...

Re: Cutting long bed down to short bed
Well the reason it isn't viable for this thread is this.. I think I once figured (using photoshop) that if you cut just the front of a box down to look right... the wheel base on a shortbox truck is then too short ! If you shorten the front of a long box to far it will make the box look back heavy ...

Re: Cutting long bed down to short bed
You know this really isn't viable to this thread since he has a short box frame... But IF I was cutting a long box down to a short box again, I would take 12 inches out of the front, and leave the back of the truck alone, I think you would end up with a sportier look, with out so much work... Howev...

Re: Cutting long bed down to short bed
Bumping this up because this endeavor is still under consideration. I got some great feedback from some...but hoping new eyes see this that didn't before. I did find another short bed truck but it's just as bad if not worse than my previous bed. I have the old bed still that I can take measurements ...

Re: TAKING THE ANODIZE OFF THE CHROME TRIM
Just removed anodizing from door sills for my 65...used Easy Off oven cleaner in the yellow top aerosol like Toyz said...worked great. Sprayed it on, let it sit for about 20 minutes, used 0 steel wool to clean em off...only had on spot that needed a second application to completely remove it all.

Looking great! Do you have more pics of how you did the structure for the bed floor and how it attaches to the truck frame?

Sorry to hear about your heart problems, thankfully they caught em and were able to get you fixed up! I'm 34 as well, so that story just hit a little close to home!
I like the truck remodel! Looks good!

Will do! I won't be doing much more wiring until I have the body work and paint done...hopefully that is sooner than later, but as the budget goes if you know what I mean!William-in-St George wrote:Under it's own power is a big day indeed. Keep us posted on your wiring progress we can help.
