Wiring Harness

Hey Guys & Gals,

I am looking to replace my entire wiring harness. I did it about 7 years ago with a Ron Francis wire harness kit but I just dont like the "BIG' fuse panel and the way all the wires connect. Seems like there are twice as many wires and looks like spaghetti junction under there. Not putting down Ron Francis products. I just know there has too be some more "basic simple" kits out there.

So with that said, my question is to you guys. What are some other companys/kits out there that you have used or know of? Not looking for good or bad reviews, (unless you want too) just some more for me to personally check out myself.

I'll be using a Centech harness. It uses a fuse panel that is 3.5" x 6." The fuse panel size is a big part of the reason I chose it. I know you didn't ask for a review but I'll say that though I have not yet installed it, it looks to be very high quality (and should be for the price). They were easy to work with to get the necessary connectors for my frankentruck.

I used the RF harnes in my 64 and I argee with you on the look.

Larry I'll take that RF panel and all the wires from you. I will be leaving town to a place where there is no internet (mother-in-laws place) and it is in the frozen tundra up north in WI....having said that keep me in mind when you start tearing that thing apart and pull the wire rather than cutting...Thanks, Bill

Bill,

I have thought about maybe selling it. Just wasn't sure if any one would be interested in a "pre"installed harness. I did have to modify a few things to use the original switches, etc. But it all works fine with no problems. To be very honest the harness was installed about 6 or 7 years ago but never completly finished truck to where it was road worthy. So harness has less than 200 miles of actual use. I still have original box it came in with all the extra wire and switches that come with kit. Box is little rough but is all there. I will remove it as if it is going to be re-used. Kit cost too much to just "cut out".
Reason I am wanting to remove it now is I am stripping truck back down to frame and starting over with project. (AGAIN) :shock: :shock:
Just though I would go ahead and replace harness with something more to my liking.

I have been looking at the EZ-Wiring kits. Like those so far.

Hi,
Just a couple weeks ago, I was looking for 'plug and play' harnesses for my 1965 F100. I did not want to change fuse panels, add more circuits, relays or holes.

These guys make true to original wiring harnesses, exact fit, exact appearance, identical OE connectors to original.
I am not quite ready to reassemble my truck, so I did not yet order the harnesses. I did talk to them, and they seem really sharp, professional, courteous, etc. Looking forward to dealing with them.

I am in the middle of installing an EZ2Wire harness also. My fuse block is about 2" by 7" and it is all one piece (no fire wall plug) and the fuse block is pre-terminated. All I have to do is put all of my plug ends on since it is a universal harness. I am having a time doing this but it is all in all, pretty straight forward. here is a pic of my fuse block... I tried to clean the pic up after blowing it up, hope it turns out.....

I put an EZ in mine, its worked out okay, so hope you done't have to call anybody for any kind of tech support, because there basicly isn't any. I called them a dozen times, and never called back. The few times I did talk to a real person, they couldn't answer anything.

There were 4-5 harnesses.

- Underdash
- Headlight
- Alternator
- Firewall??

I forget the individual prices, but I think it was going to cost me $400-$500 for all (I was not doing under dash).

Give them a call, I am sure you will find them helpful.

Just got back yesterday......ran from two snow storms, brought up there but have lived south most of my life (Navy 30 years, retired in AL, taxes are much more retiree friendly). We were in the Antigo area then Pardeeville. Been to Iron Moutain a few times....

Larry let me know how you are doing with pulling that thing out. Pm me a price and see if we can get to gether on it.

I used EZwiring. I installed the mini fuse panel with the mini fuses in my truck. I've also installed on of the regular sized EZwiring panels in my brother in laws old nova. I think if I were to do my truck over again I would use the normal sized fuse box. It mounts all the horn, blinker, and flasher relays inside the box instead of having them hanging outside the fuse pannel and having to remote mount them or tie them up somewhere.

Hi Larry, let me share w/you my quest for an original type harness. Late 2007 I called Rhode Island wiring and they told me they could not do one for me, but recomended (2) folks that could. I cleaned up my entire harness (under hood, under dash, under bed) and e mailed pictures to a very nice fellow in Rochester N.Y. He said he could do it, but would not start for 9 months. I was cool w/that because I have been working on rust repair for 2 years now. I have been giving him a pep talk every month for the last 6 months w/o any end in sight. So, I called the other fellow in Bend, Oregon. His name is Chris @ Bauer Electronics. I sent him the same pictures and he said he did not see any thing he could not do and was between jobs right now. I got my harness back from N.Y. and sent it to him the same day. If the company has the capabilities to make all the moulded ends, blocks, connections, ect., the problem is in making the drawings. That being said, Chris said he would make my harness in a month. Ill let everybody know how this works out. This could be a good source for folks who need new wires for our unibodies...wish me luck...Dave
