Rear view mirrow what color????
Mine are not chrome and have been painted. I am painting some of the small pieces and want options/ideas to paint the rearview. My exterior will be blue over ivory and the interior will be the same with gray seats and grey vinyl dash.
Okay I can paint them blue to match the truck.
I can paint them ivory to accent the blue.
I can paint them black to have them not reflect
I can paint them with a texture black which will make them look plastic
I can ????????
What ya think?

I have no idea what Ford used originally, but I think it was a silver color of some kind.
I'd use a neutral color like argent.... in fact, that is what I did use.
Looks like it belongs there and doesn't attract any attention.
Its a freaking rear view mirror, fer god's sake.

The argent is a cross between grey and silver. It is not as shiney as silver but not as dull as grey.

The argent I bought was from the NAPA store. It was in a spray can. While it was not a perfect match, it was close enough that no one would ever know the difference unless they held up an original next to it.jmf66 wrote:What brand of paint did you get the Argent color? I've got Dupli-Color's Wheel coating which is pretty close, but it's metallic.

This would be my opinion as well -- my original rear view mirror has never been repainted and it seems not really argent but a gray color. Not a battleship gray, but lighter.f100jim wrote:The ones I've had were originally a gray. I used to get a plasticoat paint color called Dove gray.matched it perfectly. The sunvisor brackets were silver.
The radio grill was that color I think originally as well, but I had to repaint it and did not get the color quite right. Looks OK though.....

I agree with these posts, light gray. Argent was the color used for hubcaps and front gravel shields on 64-66 custom cabs.cdherman wrote:This would be my opinion as well -- my original rear view mirror has never been repainted and it seems not really argent but a gray color. Just about to paint my visor brackets this morning, but before I do, I wanted to post the shots of the rear view mirror I already painted.
I got the paint from O'Reilly's, but my local store did not carry the clear coat for it. I got the clear coat from Napa. You should be able to find a store that carries both.
It is a wheel enamel, and dries hard and smooth. The clear coat really makes it pop, though. I painted some BMW wheel with it a year ago, and they still look brand-new.
It is not a dead-ringer for Argent, but for the cost, convenience and appearance, I think it's hard to beat!!
