Advice for lowering flareside fenders

I'm considering attempting to lower my fenders to decrease the opening around the rear wheels. I'm wondering what the best approach is if anyone has tried this. Thanks in advance for any help.

I havn't tried it but on my old 64 flareside has some major rust on the lower 3-4 inches of the bed and rear fenders, I am thinking that cutting off the bottom of the bed and bobbing the bottoms of the fenders. I have discussed it with my son but he has too many projects in the air right now. Maybe someone who is good with photoshop can mock a picture up for you

ya i would love to see a picture so the wheel well gaps are the same! it bugs the crap outa me on my truck

I think Ive seen somebody raise the fenders, but not raise.... Just weld the holes shut (With a copper spoon) and re drill....

I've dropped it about as much as I can for the wonderful western PA roads we have. I removed all but four leaf springs, and I'm ok with the stance. Just have to get the wheel and tire sizes to fill the space proper. I'm trying to get somewhere around the look of 60's hotrod/shop truck, but i want to do some subtle mods to the body.

Cut the wheel arch out of a Uni or 64-66 styleside bed or even front fenders - graft them into the flareside fenders.

This may sound a bit stupid, but has anyone tried to make fender skirts for a flare? I have no clue what that would even look like.

I thought about such things... I think it would look cool if it worked out, with the fronts perhaps, but I cant figure it out.... the uni style would be easier...

Agapa auto used to sell the skirts in Evansville Indiana, but he moved to Arizona if I remmember right. the skirts actually look pretty cool on stepsides. The Photoshop that is posted doesn't do the skirts justice. the skirts come to where the squared protion of the fender well is. If, I ever finsh my truck, I wil buy a set and see how it works out. Just hate to do anything that might mess up the paint Nice thing about the big opening is you can put about any wheel and tire onit you want, to fill up the space. With choping the fender and or lowering it, you are giong to get into a look right proportion problem. It would be difficult to make it come out exactly the way you want it to look. I think the fender would have to be cut up and pieces added to do what you want and make it look really good. I would think Ford Effie show truck by SVO (?)built a couple years ago may give you some ideas on what can be done. I have no link to this Ford I mentioned, but it was a radical show truck built aruond a newer model engine. Very cool.
