Trying to figure out the best suspension setup..

Post by thenephilm »

So I've finally almost got all of my parts before i start my swb project but i am trying to get the right stance. I have the dream beams and the shackle kit already but I'd like to go lower too, something similar to this perhaps....Image

I plan on cutting two coils out in the front but what about in the rear to give me a couple more inches? I know you can flip the front shackle but I am afraid that may take too much out and give the truck an awkward lean. It's getting a beefy 390 in it too so I'm not sure how much of the leaf spring I should remove either..thoughts? Also, does anyone know what bs i would need off hand if i ran a 15x10 in the rear?

thanks,
Justin

im no help, looks like a good goal though. lowering isnt my thing, but i would think that with a 390 up front you would want all the support you could get, and I don't know about just cutting the coils, that seems a little sketchy.

Yeah if I could find some lowering springs at a decent price I'd consider it

hey Justin, just cutting the coils isn't a great idea!, you`d be better off with some dream beams and just cutting 1 coil!,, with the back, flip the front mount and raise the back mount!, checkout "Beryls rebuild"in project section.
Honey, If I say I`ll fix something I will, there`s no need to remind me every 6 months!!

Well I have the dream beams already and the shackle kit for the rear but I know its not going to be enough drop for me lol...I would put an air ride on it but this will be more of a driver and I don't feel like messing with the air ride stuff on this one...plus I'd like to be able to run this one at the local track just to see what she can do :)

I set this 66 up. It has a modified mustangII and axle is flipped in the rear on 26" tall tires all the way around. The ride and drive is awesome. Truck now resides in Sun Valley, CA. Hope this helps.

This is ride height with a Dakota Kit from Industrial Chassis a 2" Z notch in the front frame and custom four link with KONI coil overs.

With aftermarket beams on it you are sort of stuck as there is no caster or camber adjustment to them to compensate for drop springs.

lmc has proggresive rat 2 inch shorter springs and shocks for your set up then find a good alignment shop to tweak beams to be correct
