army green slick???

has any of u guys or ladies seen a slick with army green paint im thinking of painting my truck that color

Way back when I was in the USMC, most every base I was at had a few painted the Olive Drab Marine Corps Green, used by base personnel.

I have one in that color. not sure it will stay that way. it needs some work and the paint ain't grand.

To Fred Martin and anyone else who may have photos of military marked slicks I would appreciate any information on paint and markings. I have the remains of a 1966 F-250 flat bed truck with the military 19.5 inch wheels and one ton type front fenders. It was a 6 cylinder with New Process 4-speed transmission with the larger Camper Special upgrade wide brakes front and rear. If I ever get around to putting it together I would like to paint it close to original military style with glossy olive drab green paint and yellow lettering. The sheetmetal is OD green inside and out and has the original military data plate. Any info greatly appreciated.

I don't recall reading/hearing of a factory-optional "Camper Special upgrade" for the brakes on a '66.

Did you mean upgrading your '66 to the larger '67 brakes?

Wow! what a great video of the US Army marked Cummins 4X4. Mine is 2wd and likely will be 460 powered.
I may be wrong about the "Camper Special" upgrade terminology (maybe it was Heavy Duty) but there was an heavy duty brake option for F-250 trucks in '66 and likely in '65. The stock brake shoes are 2 inches wide and the HD upgrade shoes are 2 1/2 inches wide. The fronts are an easy swap out. I just replaced from king pins out to get the longer spindles and drums. Rears require an entire Dana 60 axle change as the backing plate mount flange bolt holes are different.
Worth while upgrade--makes a noticable difference, especially when carring a load.
