"Three on the tree"

Post by Weedhopper »

Has anyone converted to floor shift for the manual 3 speed (1965)? If so, are the shifters available and are they any good? Also, how strong is the 3 sped manual box? I am not going to be easy on the 65 driver I am putting together, and I don't want any embarrassing moments.

I just put in a Mr Gasket floor shifter in my truck, 300 with 3spd. The tranny is a medium duty tranny and can hold up with some abuse.
The more power or abuse you put to anything you will find the next weak part, whatever that may be. Rules are if you want a racer use race parts, you want a mudder use mudder parts etc. Do not ask driving parts to be anything other than driving parts.
But enjoy the burnouts when you can...... :steering:

Ford has the toughest 3 speed around, if you break it you'll break anything! Of course you can tear up a crowbar if you try hard enough.

The Hurst is vastly superior in design and quality to the Mr G.
