64 f100 wiring

i searched the wiring diagrams in the tech section and i couldnt tell did the 64 have reverse lights i cant find a switch for the but my custom tailights have a backup light that i want to hook up also are the front parking lights supposed to go out when the headlights are switched on ???

yeah. the front parking lights are supposed to go out. I don't understand why, exactly, but that's what they do. Some day, I want to re-wire them so they're on any time the tail lights are burning. While I'm up there, I also want to put the headlights on a relay and heavier guage wire to reduce the voltage drop... Just a few ideas for you while you're thinking about that end of the truck...

To the best of my knowledge, there was never a backup switch. I put a little toggle switch on the dash, right next to the shifter, on an existing bolt. Kinda hokey looking, but it works. You could probably rig up a little pressure switch to the shift linkage underneath...

oh yeah... probably the best way of telling if something came with backup lights... If there are no white lights on the back of the truck... it probably don't got a switch for them either... haha.

Hey lincoln, what did that rear bumper come off of? looks like a toyota pickup?
as far as the front lamps mine turn off when headlamps come on, I dont mind that, kinda makes it unique. I never even thought about back up lamps until you posted something about it

if you have updated your engine and trans to something else the backup lamp switch would be integrated into the neutral safety switch (if automatic) or on the manual trans casing. I dont know if it would really be worht having them back up lamps unless you like going in reverse alot, only time ive ever needed back up lamps is when im at grocery store, ppl there dont seen to be able to tell if you are backing up or not

No on both counts.
Park light do not go out when the headlights come on/ front or rear. The lights stay on all the time.
The park lights, front and rear have a two filiment bulb..... the park lights them selves are on their own seperate circuit. When you put the light switch on park lights and stay on when the headlights come on.
The turn signals are in the same housing but the left turn lights are on one circuit running thru the steering column, the rights are on another circuit..... both power leads running thru the flasher.
That is, the turn signal lights have their own wires going to the bulbs for left and right.
Backup lights, no again. There is no provision for a circuit for a backup light in the harnesses until sometime in the late 60's (69) or early 70's, so if you want them, you'll have to wire something up. I'm going to use a microswitch off my Lokar shifter, but you'll have to scrounge something on your own if you want them.

When i first got my 66 the same thing happened when i turned on the head lights the parking lights went out. Come to find out some one before me had put in a newer light switch, i got a used one from salvage yard that was in good shape and now the parking lights stay on while the head lights are one. As far as the backup lights i got some from a 72 truck and the trans in my truck is a 77 model that has the switch. Just had to run wires fron the switch to the lights.

the bumper came off the same lincoln that the lights are from as for the back up lights i am gonna make the one in the lens red i figure i dont need it anyways

Every Slick ive ever seen, driven or rode in when you turned on the headlights the FRONT park lights go out. They cant all be broken.

I have an automatic column on my 64, which is the same as the Falcon column. I got ahold of the neutral safety switch from a 64 Falcon which had the reverse light switch built in. I used the tailight wiring harness from a 67 F100 (which is the first year they had back-up lights) and hooked up the reverse light lead from the harness to the reverse light switch lead. Works like a charm.
It looks like you have a three on the tree, but I could be wrong (small picture and bad eyes) so I don't know if it would work for you.
