Steering gear & steering column rebuild

Post by Dirky »

Hey,

I am doing a restoration on a 66 Mercury 1/2 ton.

I am going through the steering box (manual steering) and I would like to know if there are any disassembly/reassembly manuals available.

Are there parts available for my steering box? I would just like to "refresh" it, as it is a 45 year old box.

Is the steering column for a 4 speed truck serviceable? The shaft has some vertical play and feels "gritty" when you spin the steering wheel. I would like these components to perform and feel like new when done.

Thanks,

Derek.
