So the generator light went on tonight when I turned off the ignition of my '64 with a 223. The light stayed on until I pulled the negative cable off of the battery. Slight electrical smell under the hood. Any ideas?
Thanks

Either the voltage regulator went, or the generator went, and took the voltage regulator with it. I had a similar problem with my 62 292. The light came on, I revved up the motor, and the light went out. Eventually it came back on for good. I ended up with a rebuilt generator and new voltage regulator.

the cutout points are staying closed on the regulator.
you need to adjust the regulator, or you will burn something up. mine did that, but then i replaced the generator with an alternator.
