And as far as the cost 350 Chev / Ford 302 for a Blower motor he's dead right. Things are different now and a carbed or production style EFI engine are pretty comparable thanks to the 5.0 Fox Mustangs. Compare a 351 Cleveland and a an LT 1 350 - heck compare the clevo to a BBC even. I am looking at building a blown Y block - that'll scare you real good!

I have to hang with the Ford guys, you can't "bleed blue" and put a chebby in your truck, the two are not compatible, your veins would burst when you turned over the key.

Nothing wrong with the chebby in the truck if you're ok with it but you can't, repeat, can't claim to bleed blue and be willing to make that sacrifice. I bleed blue, I do everything I can to avoid even riding in a chebby, gives me a rash, I'd rather walk.

I'd say you probably "Lean" blue.

No offense intended. Just wanted to clear up that those two are not compatible, bleeding blue and running a chebby motor, no sir!

You certainly have an interesting build going there. Nice looking truck.
I understand running what engine you already have is costing you less coin than springing for another one.
Gassers back in the day ran anything and everything for engines.
Probably not Willys (4 bangers) engines though.
Stone Woods & Cook ran Blown Oldsmobiles in their 41 Willys Gas Coupes, while others ran Hemis, Chevys, Fords, etc.
Real anxious to see how yours turns out. Did you get those whitewalls from Cokers?
One Question, how will you lift the front 6 inches with twin I beams?
Wouldn't an old school tube axle give it a more old Gasser flavor? TR

I say once you go away from a stock restoration all bets are off. From motor to frame it just aint a TRUE FORD anymore. So you might as well build it to your hearts content. Just my $0.02 worth.

Well now, having owned about 68 different Ford trucks in the last 40 years and zero chebbies, I would say I am a Ford guy, not some one leanin towards it.

Yes, gassers ran whatever they liked.

This is a mod truck, so as the nice gentleman said - all bets are off

The front was lifted with a 6" kit for the 91 2wd chassis by rough country. $400 delivered to the door off Ebay

Radir supplied the reproduction MT tires, and they are 12" wide - Coker maxes out at 8" and more money

Yes the straight axle woulda been nice but the chassis woulda needed a huge amount of butcherin then refabricatin to accommodate it - remember this is a 91 F150 frame and runnin gear.

I woulda really liked a Hemi but nostalgia has priced them old motors into the hemisphere no pun intended, maybe next year

Not to argue with anyone but price out a blower and all the associated parts for a Ford motor - it cant be done for under $4700 like the chebbie is/has completed for....heck even an intake for a Ford is almost three times as much as the chebbie

But anyway - thank you to all who have complimented the build and i will keep you posted. There will be more build pix probably next week when the motor gets set into place, and the fenderwell headers n such mocked up

Wait till you see the reverse tilt front end that lays to the windshield instead of forward to the ground

fronts are Ansons, rears are Appliance

They were also my very first mags, so thats why these were my choice for this build, not to mention there were not too many choices back then and I am trying to build period correct...meaning no stuff only available today like 5" tachs

anyone got an old chrome tach, 3" white face, they wish to sell?

I have a lot of spare slick parts i could trade some of for one

So I imagine that the bracket and pulley setup on the front is only temporary, as well as the master/booster?

actually chrome boosters and such were available back when, and so were chrome or aluminum pulleys and brackets - just not mainstream, and VERY expensive.

Agreed, but not billet. Its all good though, your truck. To me, gassers are all about open headers and a nose up stance anyways.

I very seldom enter this type of conversation but can't resist. Like the concept, don't like the SBC. It shows a lack of imagination in my opinion.

Anyone that quotes to me how much more expensive Ford motors are than Chevies loses my support instantly. It's a cop-out. I've raced small block Ford based motors for over 20 years and they cost absolutely no more to build than a comprabable SBC. You may have to look a little harder to find the parts at the right price but they are out there. Not every grocery store carries Ford parts for race motors but once you get into the stream of parts it's really easy to do. I can buy anything Ford I want very easily. It's out there.

Put a Ford in it. If you want a "gasser", and don't want to use a Ford, go with a Hemi or something unique! If the SBC is what you have and want to do it say so, don't play the money card. It doesn't play with me.

everyone has an opinion, and they are rightfully entitled to it so I wont even answer them.

Can we confine the comments to constructive one please, so this doesnt get out of hand..you know like - maybe you would like to do this or that to make it more "gasser like" so that when it is done it is a good representation of a gasser.

I do beleive i have yet to see one of our Slicks done this way? If anyone else has please feel free to post pics so we can all get a handle on the "look"

so - Yes, it is a chevy motor, and apparrently some of the aluminum bits are "billet" ( I dont know the difference - they are just polished cast aluminum to me), and yes it is hoping to be a gasser in every sense of the word, not a restoration. Hell, I am even going to run neoprene fuel lines in stead of my normal AN stuff cuz nobody used AN back when.

I would really like the clear red fuel lines that were popular back then, but cant find a supplier for 3/8" reinforced clear red fuel line

If anyone knows of a supplier please let me know
