How to install a "hood brace cushion"

Has anyone replaced one of these as seen in the LMC catalogue

63 F 100 unibody

When I re-did my hood I cut out the braces, sandblasted and coated everything inside and welded them back. The cushion was stapled to the braces if I remember correctly. Instead of replacing the cushions I used a 2K seam sealer to keep the outer skin from buffeting. 3M makes a 1K urethane sealer that you could shoot into the gap and get the same result.
