65 F100 Body Drop
Has anyone body dropped a 65 F100? I am looking for some general info on what and where to cut and how to do the bed. I want to lower the truck but the kits available don't go low enough to give the stance I want and really don't want to get into a load of money just to lower it. How much have guys been paying for the newer crown vic front ends and can you bag them fairly easy? Might have to bite the bullet for a mustang 2 but am wondering how long parts will remain available for them.
I'm also looking into cutting the long bed and frame down to a short bed if anyone has good info about that.

If you have an LKQ (Pick a Part) in your area which offers the Thanksgiving holiday weekend 1/2 price sales, you should be able to buy a CV front for around 150.00, if available.
Be sure to bring a cordless 1/2 impact and an able-bodied friend. Certainly keep all the hardware.

Have you seen UNIFAN's build thread? It may help answer some of your questions: http://fordtruk.com/forums/viewtopic.ph ... sc&start=0
It appears his truck is able to drop right into the weeds with minimal floor modifications, if any. Just a front and rear Z in the frame, along with a raised bed floor.

Joey chopped/ butchered a perfectly good cab years ago by cutting the floor out and never finished it.
Not saying it can't be done, just that you really should consider what the finished results will look like and will it be worth all that trouble.
Slicks are a lot different that the old F-1's with a flat floor because of the cab mounts and supports.
My dos centavos worth.

when i did my 65 few years ago i clipped it with a camaro subframe and then put 2x4 in side the frame rails uinder the cab and choped off the bottom 2-3 inches ( cant remember exactly how much it was. only have to do bout 3 feet of the frame on each side. not very tough at all.... once you do that it will lay flat like a 61-64 frame

lil crude but it was one of my 1st

shoulda cut a bit more off the bottom, like i said my 1st go at this type of build.
