Nice surgery Dan! I'm not so sure I would've tackled that much replacement myself without looking for another cab but I enjoy seeing your progress. You have the perfect shop to do this in.

Thanks Max. I figured it was worth a shot to save as the roof and athe rest is purfect. I have to say that the right tools make all the differance. Keep it clean and take your time...not all that bad.

Patience is a great virtue. The cab work looks like it was quite time consuming. I'm sure glad that I didn't have that much to do. I probably would have been 20 years instead of 10 getting mine done.

I think it is going to be about 40hrs per side just to do the steps and front cab mounts. Then I still have to do the cab corners and the 3rd brake lite mod. Then column mount and maybe shave the drip rails.

...Dang, I still have a lot of work to do.

Oh well, it is a fun project, not a required project, so time is not really a problem.

Hope to get some more work done today.

That is a $160 mistake I hope none of you make. Buy some sheet metal working tools instead.
i could have cut those entire sections out from a cab i have here and saved you lots of time and $

but your workmanship is very good

I agree with you on the therapy. I am glad to be doing something to mine again. It gives me something to do when I get home.

Yes I am. I like to do things the hard way I guess.

I am good at fab work and it relaxes me. I have a desk job and deal with people all day, so to do some manual labor and have the shop to myself is nice.

I bookmarked a post where a guy had laid out the dimensions for cutting & bending your own pieces to make a three-piece mount. You following that or making it up as you go?

Not realy, more make as I go. There is nothing at 90deg so I figured I better just make as I go.

If your measurements come out different than these, could you document it so that someone less talented than yourself (like me) could attempt to follow in your footsteps?
