hi everyone, I was hoping I could get some different opinions and if anyone has experience with this. Im looking at buying a 66 rolling chassis this coming weekend. My plane was to either use a mustang 2 or drop ibeams and cut a coil to lower the truck. I put add in local want adds for a rolling chassis and guy responded with a stock rolling chassis and one fully boxed with mustang 2,4 link, polished calipers,9" with no gears, and coilovers and weld prostars and mickey thompsons. wants 500 for stocker and 3500.00 for custom frame. I know it all comes down to what I want but has anyone modified suspensions both ways who has feedback on what the overall experience doing either or is. stocker would be easier and quicker to get on road and cheaper.
any feedback would be appreciated
also I want to put in a 302 efi, can these bolt in? maybe something from a wrecked mustang gt.
thanks everyone
I think both are over priced. Does the stock roller come with a title. Warrenty plate? What year is the cab you plan to use? Either of these options will require money, time, a place to work and a fairly complex skill set. I would work him down on either of the frames you decide on and take it from there. We can help. IMHO!
Welcome to the site!, I think I`d go for the stock Chassis!, that way you can do it how you want, not how someone else may have stuffed it up!, the wheels may not suit the style of truck you want, and then you have to get rid of them, so start with a clean plate.
Honey, If I say I`ll fix something I will, there`s no need to remind me every 6 months!!

i also think M2 front ends are too wimpy for trucks
you can buy a beater truck that has a clear title with a frame for a couple hundred then put your own touches on it.
you did not mention if you had a cab/bed already waiting to go on the frame so i really cant say more about your project

hi guys, thanks for your input, I live in ontario canada. I am a liscenced autobody repairer. I agree it seems a bit pricey for the chassis but in ontario everything vintage is expensive, A beater 60s or 70s truck from southern states usually has a asking price of 4500.00 to 7000.00. and still needs body and paint work!!!.the stock rolling chassis came from kentucky, nothing local ever survives due to road salt in winter, everything decent comes from southern states. ownership goes with cab not frame. i wanted to get chassis and finish everything on that first,(brake lines, disc conversion, engine and trans install, etc etc) then buy southern box for about 800.00, then get cab. Ive loved these trucks for years and have slowly collected parts for one (trim, lights, bezels, etc, etc). Sounds crazy I know, but I had a 53 buick I restored and had parts everywhere it took over everything. this time I want to get body parts as i need them to avoid all that (can get overwhelming). does anybody know if a late model efi 302 will share motor mounts with 352 or mounts from a 67-72 fit on 66 frame to use 302?. I figured you guys would have the most experience with these trucks so I would ask instead of learning the hard way.
once again thank you for your input
