I have pulled mine apart before, and this is what I can tell you.

Inside of it there is a bearing that is pressed in, mine popped out. If that is the cause of the slop in yours press it back in. I stuck a shim in it to keep it in place. When you lubricate it, fill it full of moly grease. Do not use gear oil. Brake parts cleaner is your friend. That is about it.

so much for unbolting the box and pulling it through the floor. Aint no way that box is going through that hole in the floor. Gonna have to pull the header and drop it out the bottom. Im losing the battle put i plan on winning the war.

Box is together and back in the truck. Cant guarantee same results for others but mine is steering great. actually seems easier to turn but it was pretty dry and loose It only had about a quarter cup of gear lube in it origanally..Almost 2 tubes of grease to fill the box. used a lithium based grease. Used to get a good vibration about 78 mph. was running up close to 90 today and it felt much better. probally need to play with the toe in some more.

I don't remember mine being a recirculating ball unit. Now I might need to yank it out and see.

Are there new seals you need when you do this? I would like to do the same with mine?

I didnt notice any seals which i dont understand. the box has a gap around the steering shaft. dont disassemble the reciculating ball assembly. it can be done but its a bitc* keeping up with all the balls and getting them back in.
