door opens when turning left
My 63 slick right door will swing open when you turn left. I have ordered new motor mounts and have shimed the latch out from back the body that it is mounted on. I have looked carefully at the door locking mechanism but have not found anything that could be causing the problem. Course it could be my old eys not seeing the problems. It appears to be solid when you shake it while the truck is parked. I'm guessing it the flexing of the body. Any suggestions? Thanks Don Luster
Rare CIA spy option ?
Had a old Datsun that would do that on the drivers side. The door hinge area was rotted enough to give when flexing in a turn.
First time it happened I almost fell out. Another good reason for seat belts in old vehicles.
Might check your cab mounts.
Or grab the door and see if it has any give in it up & down
Are you getting 2 clicks when you push the door shut?

Don, you likely have a worn pawl on the latch. I just fixed a latching problem with my 62 last week, same thing. Could also just be gummed up with old lube and sticking before it latches right, fixed that one too. Pull the latch mechanism out of the door clean it up real good and look at the tip of the pawl. If the pawl looks OK just lube it lightly and put it back in.

Mine did that a couple of times. I used white lithum grease on all parts and it never opened again on there own. Might give it a try.

Very simple, the kentucky fix would be to punch a hole through the rear window, insert chain trough hole, around door post through open door window, and wire both ends of chain together. Door will not come open. Or you could just avoid left hand turns. Either method is fool proof and is very inexpensive. Good luck
I used to have a car that would only turn left, this sure would have compounded that problem.
I had an 81 camaro with those huge doors on it and they would fly open all the time. The door had sagged over the years and the lock mechanism didn't line up. The parts were worn out so I replaced them and the door stayed shut for a few more years. Hope this helps.

He drove to court here in Oregon OH for some stupid offence.
As he left he was pissed he owed some cash and zipped out of the lot.
He turned in front of the building and his door flew open.
When he reached out to pull it shut he was hanging off the wheel.
He drove it right through the wall of the police station.
He was a brick tender.
Part of his new sentence was to fix the wall as restitution.
Someday I'll get another slick
