Found this on Sunday.

Post by bird55 »

I've been on lots of goose chases before and I drove more miles than i usually do to look at this because my curiosity made me. But I saw it. A 1964 f-100, original raven black, custom cab, long bed. 292. Near as I can tell…factory buckets and console. Trans has been changed to a 4spd at some time later. Bed floor and cab floor is shot. Seller says it has been sitting there for ten years since the y block was running.
He has been on the internet and claims "they're worth big money! Has seen them sell on Ebay for $60,000". Really?
Ok, well he does want way too much. but I absolutely don't need this, but of course I want it.
We are talking. I have more pics but being to selfish to reveal all at this point. sorry, maybe later. But who knows maybe you've already found it too. 8)
After doing research on here and around it does look to be all factory original as a 64 AND no "ranger" emblems of course. I've checked out the VIN tag. These look to be the same seats they used in the tbolts and dodge vans. Not the mustang variety. So one of "special order" models.

Ah, a very rare (sport package)!

The seats and console were an option in 64, DSO-TTMS-0004-IAC4 Was the factory order code. Doug bought a truck with the bostroni buckets and console... maybe a twin?

Sounds like a cool truck.
Appears it had West Coast mirrors at one time too.
Just out of curiosity how bad is his "Barrett / Jackson fever"?

OK, after some careful thought and losing some sleep I've decided to not go after this. Slickitus cured for the moment BUT I can "hook you up"
It's no secret I found it on craigslist and drove and hour to check it out.
He wants 2500. too much iMHO. I don't need another project. And don't have business trying to negotiate with him.
He didn't have pics these are mine. And he the one selling not me.
when I rested my hand on the seat to shoot a photo the vinyl on the seat shattered.
Glad to see what one looks like first hand always interesting to here the other guys story.
His words "needs a freeze plug and a battery and it'll start right up"… "It's been sitting for 10 years"
I've got my reference pics and that's good enough for me for know. Till I start to shake again!
enjoy. Oh and he does have the missing fender I saw it.

you would make at least that back in parts, and depending on how some of it cleaned up and how decent the tailgate actually is you might double your investment.

I agree, I thought long and hard about it but storage and selling off the parts isn't my thing at this time.
the tailgate is just …ok. the console is there but its really iffy from age. Of course the seats could be re-upholstered but still I know how much that runs.
Really too sad it was let to deteriorate. I be that bed and interior ware decent before it was left to sit. he turned the engine over by hand so its not locked up. OR maybe there's nothing inside!
Appreciate all the comments. I don't feel so bad now for not getting it.

i could write a book about hauling home trucks, dismantling, storage, parts sales, profit, loss, moving, scrap etc.

definitely not for the faint of heart or the weak willed

bottom line is it takes a lot of time work and commitment, you wont get rich , and youjust might end up committed...

By the way bird55... they make almost all of the reproduction parts for those consoles, since they are a Falcon console.

we have seen many times the owner thinking the piece for sale is deserving of gold bricks as payment

most of these individuals do not fully understand reality, and that is indeed sad for both the seller and the rest of us

sad for the seller because if he had a grip on reality he would sell for what he could get rather than holding on to it and being pi$$ed because he cant get more than its worth

sad for the rest of us because while the truck as a whole is not worth the asking price there are individual pieces many of us could use and would be willing to pay for.instead that truck will sit and rot some more as are many of them with similar minded owners.

the seller thinks that someone will buy at the price he is asking.according to PT Barnum the possibility does exist "theres a sucker born every minute"
in todays economy however even the suckers are broke.

i could still be sitting in flooded Talkeetna waiting for someone to give me what i thought my trucks for sale were worth. i am not because i understand reality and took what i could get when i could get it.
i might not have been happy about it but i sold them and moved on.

its a $500 truck. its not even very clean and presentable IMO. a good bath and cleaning off the floor in the cab would up the value slightly.

$500.00 may be a bit much regardless whether or not he got mad.
As far as $60,000.... asking and selling are two different things.
I have however noticed that Mr. Barrett Jackson and others, have brought out those ebay giants who want $100.00 for what dennis carpenter sells for $20.00 or worse.
THings can only go south from here, on the other hand I am sitting on a gold mine

Yes, I was thinking they did. I just had to go see this thing and see if it was real. Sad to see it's condition. I was mulling over offering 750. but He claims he wasn't gonna budge. Even at that price One wouldn't get much.

I'm happy with my bench seat anyway. And I don't want any more show stuff, just drivers.
