Thank you from New York

Post by chilly803 »

:D From upstate New York I would like to say what a wonderful site with a bunch load of information. I'm building a father son 66 F100 project with my son and with access to your site we have installed a 460 engine in it as well as power steering from a 79 F100 from all the information found on your site. Was just accepted to your site, with that being said, again thank you, I had just ordered new cab bushings for the cab and core support as we are having trouble trying to get the firewall plate that holds steering column to line up in bolt holes and to strap column firmly to firewall, the column is from a 72 F150 cant remember if it had power steering or not. Maybe when bushings get here that will solve problem and we can keep building. Thanks to a wonderful site and to some GREAT knowledge out there.

Ditto from the northern end of the Mohave. To fit the column, be sure the cab is lined up, remove the dash clamp, install the flexible joint, firewall plate and boot (loosely), then re-install the dash clamp and tighten all the bolts. Check for binding. You can shim the steering gear box between the frame and box but usually this is not necessary. Sawsall gets the old bushings out in short order. Don't over tighten the new bolts. Drain the fuel tank before you move it too get to the top end of the rear cab mount bolts.
