I'm looking at re-wiring my truck when I do the body/fram swap. I want to buy the whole thing.
Where would be the best place to buy or any suggestions on where to look?
Thanks!

Re: Rewiring- Best place to buy
American Autowire makes a good kt. It is what I used in my truck. EZ Wiring makes a good kit and about half the cost of the A.A. kit. It just depends on what you want. The EZ wiring kit seems to be real popular with most here.

I would suggest a Rebel Wire harness to anyone.

The kits are made in the USA. I am using one(a 9+3 kit) currently in my Unibody project and it is very well made and has good instructions. Definately worth checking out.

On the American Wire kit I noticed it comes with a Headlight switch and a Ign Switch.... Did you use those in your setup..
Did it make it alot easier to use those..? I don't want to hack my headlight switch I really go with one that comes with the kit.
I will only be running the basic features that came with the truck and maybe a radio.

This is the kit I was going to go with... What do you think?

Re: Rewiring- Best place to buy
I used the headlight switch that came with the American Wire kit. My dash isn't stock so it didn't matter if I had the stock switch in the dash. The headlight switch was easy to hook up because it comes with a plug but I still had to hook it up to the column for the hi/low switch. I didn't use the ignition switch that came with it because I had a column with the key in it.

I have a stock setup.... Was the wire long enough on the kit? I have heard people complain they don't reach to the taillights?
Re: Rewiring- Best place to buy
All of the wires were long enough in my kit but mine is a short bed. I don't remember anything being that close to not work on a long bed.cwindsor wrote:I have a stock setup.... Was the wire long enough on the kit? I have heard people complain they don't reach to the taillights?

Re: Rewiring- Best place to buy
I have an American auto wire kit. For all the engine compartment and other connections that are exposed to the elements, I spent a little extra $$ and converted to the weather tight connectors. I also used shrink wrap on all the others.
