factory primer?

Post by blueovalmadness »

I'm curious what color primer did they use in 65? Now that I finally got my 4x4 65 on the road for the last couple weeks I took it to the car wash today. The truck is black with black and red interior which I believed to be original paint. Now this truck hasn't been wash in god knows how long and when I rolled out of the wash bay I found that I now have spots of orange paint showingall over the truck.

Probably original red lead primer. Good stuff when you could still get it.

I dont know back then but today the primer depends on the topcoat color.

my boys truck which was in original green under the gray primer the po thought was cool looking had a pink primer under the original paint.
It might have been red primer but really looked pink when we sanded through the green
