Rods 63 UNI long bed ProStreet
Re: Rods 63 UNI long bed ProStreet
Awesome project!
Re: Rods 63 UNI long bed ProStreet
Moving along on the hood scoop project. Beginnng to tack things together.

Looks a little wavy at this point but it will come together. The fillers are just taped in right now, need to do some more trimming it looks like. Open for suggestions or comments.

I like the looks of the reverse scoop. Have you thought about using steel brake line for some curvature around the edges somehow. Im not sure how you would do it or even it you can. Just a thought.

I was thinking about doing something like that but just reversing the 2 "dips" and only bringing them up about 1"
Looks Good. I would add a radius to the top edges.

We have made a lot of progress but, like Uncle Skip, most of it doesn't show. Today we got the headliner from Dennis Carpenter installed. It fits very well. It needs to be pretty well soaked with water so it can bend without breaking. Got the cab interior dyna matted and it's pretty quiet inside the cab now. It's about a day away from being a runner driver of sorts. At least we can move it around under its own power. I havent taken any pictures yet of the transmission throttle cable install I will post when I do.

Ok more progress. We have started the wiring and will be hiding the wiring so it won't be seen in the engine bay. Got paint on the inner fenders, core support, and the fenders edged and got them hung today. All in all we are making some good progress in the last few days. Here's some pictures.

Absolutely LOVE that that fitment, not my color at all but I really respect the work that went into making a 3 stage paintjob look that straight on a 50 year old truck!

Here we go the long awaited "one piece door glass install"
We hauled out the KIT and read through the instructions for the ???? who knows how many times. Looked at the crappy black and white pictures on plain paper with felt pen notes and arrows. Got out some measurement tools the soap stone marker, made some cut lines to follow and fired up the torch and started cutting.

Well after much cutting, trimming, cussing, head scratching and all the things that go along with "custom installs" we got the window in and it goes up and down. AMAZING. I am taking notes and lots of pictures and when I get it all organized I will post a seperate how too article on how we did it. This is a major project and not, by any means, a quick week end project. I know it looks pretty awful right now but it will get all cleaned up and will look as nice as it can when finished.

I am here to say that a one piece window glass can be done and it will look very good on a custom truck. I wouldn't recommend it for a stock truck because of the heavy modifications that are required to make it work.

Re: Rods 63 UNI long bed ProStreet
Mike. I agree about the one piece window on a stock truck thing, but I was wondering.....
Would it have been any help to "judiciously" take some of the door skin off the outside when you did the cutting and fitting?
And how did you finally deal with the upper hinge box? Ain't a lot of room to work in there and I'd be concerned about rubbing the glass on an exposed metal surface.
Anyway, that is a very nice piece of craftsmanship my friend.

I'm not arguing with you. I'm just explaining why I'm right.

Very good job on the glass install. It took me 15 hours on the mod. It truly is a PITA but worth it. I was not very pleased with the quality of the window fuzzies in the kit and was planning to call Carpenter and see if I could get some custom ones from them. Great progress on the truck.
Love those SLICKS
