I bought a champion rad off of ebay http://www.ebay.com/bhp/ford-f100-radiator
The mounting holes are just a little too narrow across to bolt up..Also this rad is quite thick (3 3/4 inches) so if I did mount it in the original position it would be pretty close to the engine...I am debating the best way to mount this thing..I am thinking about trimming the mounting bracket to make it narrower and let the rad slide inside the cradle and use the mounting surface for the shroud side to mount the rad to the cradle...Did the 65 come with a different rad cradle depending on if it was a 6 cyl or V8?..This truck was originally a 6 but now has a 390.
Anyone put a champion aluminium rad in a 65?

I put one in a 64 , had to trim the outer edge of the flange , I also went with elect fans .

same thing built some tabs out of 1/2 inch flat stock and welded nut to back also electric fans fits nice
Re: Anyone put a champion aluminium rad in a 65?
Finally got the rad installed and thought I would post up some pics in case anyone is interested in doing this swap..I basically just trimmed the brackets off of the front side and used the rear mounting surface instead.Had to fabricate a couple of 1 3/4 inch wide flat peices of steel to fill in the gaps between the rad and the factory 65 mounts..Had I known all of the measurements to begin with I might have seen if I could have ordered the rad with the brackets reversed to how they come.
