hey i was wanting to get some feed back on anyone here who added a booster onto there 64 or simular year pickup. what brackets did you use, what booster and what fabrications were involved?
ive seen the write up on here about this in another thread, which helped out a alot.
heres my plan, any adice you guys want to add, feel free:
*1965 mustang single MC made for booster option mustangs, expl. DORMAN # M32900
(for 3 reasons, i cant find any f100 power brake MCs, brake switch on MC, shes just a pudder around town truck no heavy work)
1967-77 booster bracket
(cause im told they fit 64 100s)
*1968-79 cardone reman dual diaphram booster #54-73112 found on f350s or f250s with heavy duty packages
(2 reasons cause ive used these before, they fit the brackets and work well, may opt for single, im told they will fit)
will a manual brake single MC like the one thats on my truck now, work well on a booster?
do you guys think i should use another booster?

craigerf100- I am in the process of doing pretty much the same as yer wanting to do. I opted for a dual pot mc for the 72 Fords and purchased this at NAPA, but i still need to get the booster along with the brackets. Evilbay has 'em all day long with the brackets or you could call Tom up and his are lasercut to fit our slicks. There is a good bit of material on this brake upgrade, use the search engine and go from there. From what i understand, you can still retain yer brake rod for the upgrade but you will hafta relocate the brake switch or just get one of those nice proportioning valves thru Summit and keep the old pressure switch. Checkout my post on brake upgrade because a lot of our members gave me some valuable info on this. You have a beautiful old truck and i would hate for you to find yerself without any brakes like i did and nearly had an accident after runnin thru a stop sign. You can e-mail Tom on his website and he is very helpful and also a member. Here's the link to his website http://www.flashbackf100s.com/ Good luck with this and let us know what yer gonna do.

Re: booster(ing) a 64 f100
No thread yet other then members jumping in to help, its still in the works after my brakes failed. Gonna upgrade asap, but my wifes little Camry needs a few things first. I did manage to fix the brake problem due to a leaky wheel cylinder so that will get me by for the time being. Single pot mc ok until you decide later on to do an upgrade. Were here if ya need us.

Pretty sure this bracket will work with an early 70's booster .

Would be safer to split the brakes at junction on frame rail. Buy a dual MC,plug for junction connection, union for connecting rear brake line with 30" brake line to master cylinder. Add booster and brackets, you will have great braking power and be safe from single MC letting go. Good luck,Tony

Totten you are absolutely right, but though its 'my truck' hes the one that drives it the most. and he wants a single MC. plus hes paying for the upgrade. later on we will upgrade to dual.
limestone, tell me the whole story about your brakes failing... if you would
was the booster too much for the single MC?
would the f350 dual diaphragm booster off all 66-77 be 'too much' for the single f100/mustang MC?

Hunter that bracket may up for 77-79 trucks but im thinking not mine. the bracket looks like it angles the booster/MC up. kinda like the 77-79 trucks. nice find though, awesome price lol
