Not a direct bolt on. The forward cab mounts are different. And the steering column mounts differently. But it can be done.

Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive body, but to skid in sideways - body worn out and screaming: Woo Hoo, what a ride!"

You will need to be handy with a welder, torch, metal fabrication. You'll need to be able to plan, as in make measurements and execute your plan.
Lastly, if you are going to the trouble of transplanting a 63 cab, it had better be a very nice one. If you decide to go that route, you should find a 70's era truck that has PS, PB, dual cylinder brake setup, wider rear drums etc. The work to swap over will be the same, and you'll have more truck than if you use a 66 frame.
If you are changeing the engine in the process, you can find the right rust bucket 70's truck that has the engine and drivetrain you want. Then you just rip off the 70's fuselage and put the 63 on it.
Wheel base must be paid attention to -- usually folks can fudge the bed location a little. Or some folks shorten the frame.

Here's a link to a picture that shows the difference. I went the opposite way that you describe, (64 cab on later chassis) but the front mounts still have to be dealt with. The left mount is the 79, the other is a modified 64.
Good luck,

Where do they get the additional height from on the 65 or 66? Are the doors the same on all years 61 to 66? If the change is just cosmetic from the drip rails and up, then it shouldn't affect any glass or doors. I said all that to say this, I never knew there was a difference in cab heights so I have learned somthing else about these great trucks.DV65CustomCab wrote:Roof height of the '63 is lower than the '66 also.

asking this question requires more specifics
heres the real story
a 63 cab is a direct bolt on to a 65 0r 66 f350 or f250 4x4.the height difference is only the roof panel.i replaced my 66 f250 cab with one from a 63
how can you tell by looking?
shorter roof
vents in kickpanels different
lights and wiper switches reversed
to put a 63 cab on a 65 or later 2wd frame or 67-up 4x4 frame requires some work, related to the front cab mounts and the steering column.it can be done as i am just finishing a 65 f350 cab on a 72 4x4 frame.

Of course, there are tons of differences between 61-66 cabs and 65-66.
What matters when moving to a different frame are the mounts.
The 61-64 and 65-66 are essentially different trucks. Its easier to list what IS the same: Hood, doors, outer front fenders, windshield, radio, bed (64 only), 9" rear in some cases, seat I think, gas tank.....
Get the picture?
They only look the same. Sort of.........
