Radiator mounting question on a 66?
So I have a nice new 3 row radiator that is supposed to fit my 66, but the mounts look way off. I'm not sure if someone put a different core support in, or if I am just visualizing it wrong? Do I have the wrong radiator? It looks like the mount for the radiator in the truck is very far in front of the radiator itself, whereas the new radiator the mount is behind. I am going from a crappy 1 core to a 3 core... So not sure what I have or what I need?

Re: Radiator mounting question on a 66?
Looks as if your radiator is similar to a '65 which mounts on brackets rather than the main part of the core support itself. Can't tell for sure, but does not look like the OEM '66.

notice how the radiator bolts to the core support in both pics

So, can I make the new radiator I have work in my 66? I guess I am lost what I actually have, and what I need?
Edit, this a 352 v8 (original motor)

Re: Radiator mounting question on a 66?
can be made to work either by taking to a radiator shop and reversing the flanges or using the flanges from the old rad on the new one.
not a big deal they are only soldered on.
i do not know if you have the skills and equipment to do this yourself or not, i have many times but if your not careful you could burn a hole in the tank...well you see where im going with this.

Re: Radiator mounting question on a 66?
I think my best bet is to return it to advance. So much for a great deal
. So if I want a radiator to fit, what year should aim for? Am I needing a radiator for a 66? Reason I ask is I thought thats what I was buying, and still not totally sure if I understand whether I received the wrong part, or simply need to buy for a 65?
Re: Radiator mounting question on a 66?
It does appear they sent you an earlier radiator. I would try an Advance store in hopes of finding someone who can find the right part number. They should be able to correct the on-line error. I've had good luck returning on-line items to the stores, but I usually order for store pickup. It is quite easy to make some spacers to make it work, but it would not retain a factory look. BTW,fatwallet.com usually has some great Advance Auto discount codes.

Re: Radiator mounting question on a 66?
Hassle free return at least. Did a bunch of looking and it seems advance simply has the wrong part listed. The radiator would work in a 66, but only a 4wd 66 that has the earlier style radiator core support. 66 and up 2wd require a different mount due to the flatter core support. I found this thread , http://www.fordification.com/forum/view ... a&start=15 and ended up ordering that one. Ended up costing me 50 bucks less than the wrong radiator. Cant beat that!! Just hope that it fits. What I have now in there sort of works, its just one core, aluminum, with a patched tank.

65\66 f250 4x4 and f350 used the early core support
66 f100 4x4 used the later 2wd style.
good to know that should the need happen to arise that there is a radiator readily available for the my 66 f250 4x4.

Re: Radiator mounting question on a 66?
For my '66 2WD, I purchased a replacement from Advance as well, for a '78 F-150/250 with a 460.
Bolted up perfectly to the core support, and had the correct inlet/outlets for the 352 radiator hoses.

Re: Radiator mounting question on a 66?
I'm a little late chiming in since you found the right one. But just a FYI, I found Spectra Premium CU480 Complete Radiator fits the '66 2wd supports. That is what I got for mine and it installed without issue. Thanks for your info though.
