forward tilt hood kits

Post by kstones63 »

I am building a website for these hood kits. I would like some pics of the hood kits installed on the trucks. If anybody would like their truck in my gallery, I would like to post them there. Please send me an email so I can download the pic. I will not post your name, possibly the state where you are located.
If you don't still have my email, send me a PM and I will send you my email address.

Thanks,
Kevin

These kits will stop the hood from coming up and smacking the windshield. If the hood latch releases, it will still come up but I am not sure exactly what it will do. I really don't want to release the hood on my truck just to find out.

C'mon, Kevin; you've done the R&D, might as well do some real world testing! I suspect speed would probably play a large part in the results! I would venture a guess that the likelihood of failing to fully secure both latches would be much lower with your kit than with the original setup which often involves pushing down on the trailing edges of the latched hood in an attempt to align the worn assembly with the body lines.

the safety catch should stop it flying up, and if it does the wind pressure against the front end should push it backwards and the mechanism should pull it back down, I think !
how high does yours lift on opening Kevin.......

Alan,
This is how far the hood opens on the first part.

Paul,
I hope that I don't ever encounter that real world testing.
I believe that if the hood release came open and the safety didn't catch it that the hood would go up and the back of the hood would just up to be parallel with the ground. If the wind got under the hood, it should raise the back up and stay there. If the wind pushed it down in the back, it should go back right onto the roller brackets at the firewall.
I think that the worst that could happen would be that the hood would go, up flatten out and then go back down which might make the rear rollers sit on top of the rear brackets instead of going into the pocket like it should. It might do some damage to the paint but I really don't think that it could ever get into the windshield.

Well hell, someone has to volunteer to do the r&d.
I tell you what, send me a set up and I will do the real world testing on my unibody parts truck.
I will rent a u haul trailer take it up to speed and pop the hood with a remote pull string thingy and record the results. yeah that's the ticket, then you will have a definitive record of the event.
