Ford Accessory Wheels from the 40s to 60s

Post by Shiny »

I'm looking for a few of these wheels.
Image
They came on old ambulances, milt trucks, delivery trucks etc.
They are known as fords accessory wheel,or high clearnce wheels.
The measurement is 18" x 3 5/8" with the 5 x 5.5 bolt pattern.

Does anyone have any or know there is any?

Those are cool looking wheels, 5 on 5.5 too. Might look good on a slick. If you like big wheels that is.

If you get any contacts on this, be careful, they also had some 17 and 18 inch wheels with a 5 lug but with a very large pattern circle(something like 7 or 8 in) but they also had large studs(about 3/4 in).

Forgot to mention, the wheels I was specificly refering to where on a 1939 1 ton that I had at one time. The pic you have looks like the first type stamped wheels that replaced the spoke type, mid 30s. There was also the 16 inch wheels that had a 5 lug pattern and a very large opening and circle pattern9Maybe 38 or thereabouts), seems IIRC those were on the ones with mechanical brakes.

Those wheels are rare......like hens teeth. Very expensive & hard to come by....

Try the H.A.M.B. (jalopyjournal.com) web site.....they deal in vintage vehicles & hot rods.

Shiny - I've been watching the price of these "military wheels" or "milk truck wheels".......skyrocket......... out of affordable sight for regular people....over the last year or two.

Best of luck on your search.
