new achievement unlocked

Post by shipwrecked »

Decided to drive shipwrecked to work sunday because i wanted to do some cleaning up on it.

Everything started just fine. Fist turn of the key and she fired right up.
drove 3 miles and everything was fine.
at 3.5 miles, engine shut off.

pulled over, restarted. First and second gear fine. Got to third. Engine shut off.
Pulled over, saw the turn around that I could take to go home, and started up, drove around the U-turn and sure enough- put in second gear and engine shut off.
Pulled over.
Tried starting a few times, nothing.
Pulled the fuel like off the fuel pump, turned it over a few times, and nothing. gas tank is full.

Took an hour for the tow truck to get to me. Even had a Sheriff Officer stop to chat with me to make sure I was okay. I had already been waiting on tow for 50 minutes by then. Officer loved the truck- he was wide eyed looking at it. Tow truck drove by just as officer got back in the cruiser and headed out.
Hooked up, towed the 3.5 miles home, and I had to turn around and go to work still
I was over 1.5 hours late for work.

Achievement unlocked after 28 years of driving vehicles. I broke down. I needed a tow.

unfortunately these things happen. most parts are either made in third world countries or have been on the shelf so long that they do not last.Hopefully you get a better part this time.can also be a fuel pick up issue
Good luck

On the bright side, you were 3.5 miles from home, and not 35 or 350.

A company called Then And Now rebuilds original fuel pumps and sells kits that they make themselves. I've used them ony own and customer vehicles.
