Saturday i did a bunch of chores around the yard and put a new heavy duty tarp on my barn roof.
spent a rainy Sunday working on my shop heater, cleaning out the burner, fuel tank and carburetor.
Monday i installed a new 4-way receptacle for tag lights on the towtruck and made some brackets for the driving lights on it.
today i cut down a 4 foot tall oil tank stand to 30" and welded it back together.

Last week

Post by turtle1056 »

Last week I was on holidays - so not quite just a weekend lol, but

From Saturday to Saturday I replaced the motor and trans in my truck with an EFI truck motor and AOD trans.

This required making a new driveshaft, exhaust system, motor, trans and rad mounts, new wiring harness and interface with the old harness, new shifter, fuel pedal, new rad, rad shroud, remote oil filter setup, new power steering lines, etc

Just waitin on my new VSS so I can make the new speedometer cable and I should be back on the road this weekend.

;o)

My wife and I went on a long motorcycle ride.

My brother and I took the slick and got all the old motorcycles out of my Dad's shop. I now have "my" first motorcycle! It's a 1974 Honda SL 125 and needs lots of TLC.

I got the choke, radio, and heater working on the slick. Did a few other maintenance type things.

Spent Sunday going to church and hanging with the family.

It was a glorious weekend here in the heart of GA!

Added a new son in law to the family. Good guy a bright and motivated young man. :D

On a side note I was looking at the wedding pics and trying to figure out who the middle aged dude in the suit was.
It actually took me a minute to realize I was looking at myself. shrug.gif

Saturday was my last event of the year... Done for another year.

Sunday went to a car show in Moris Il. Seen some nice cars and trucks. After I sat with my Best friend (we have been friends since high school, 30 some years) in the shop, ate ice cream and talked for a hour.

The Hundred car pileup (rat rod show) was Saturday, and is one of my favorite shows to see, but I had to work.

Nice weekend.

I am now defrosting the GH truck, and will get it to the other garage to make room to get the 64 home so me and the boy child can get started on his first truck. More good times to come.

Your shop heater has a carburetor? It's not just an engine you have on a stand that you leave idling all day, is it?

I spent the first half of Saturday pickin' around a boneyard I hadn't been to in a while, hauled home some dentside things for cheap. I also discovered where a dentside went that I had my eye on by someone's house had disappeared to. Oh well, I got some trim pieces from it.

Sunday was mostly spent doing honey-do's around the house & yard. Winterizing the sprinkler system & stuff.
My "Slickitis" affliction began here...

I was laid-off last week. Saturday, I went to the Hunnert Car Pileup which is a huge rat-rod show. They had about 1300 cars and were turning away rides that did not meet their "criteria". These rules from the group of so-called Rebels. The irony is amusing.
Sunday went to the same show mentioned ealier in Morris Illinois. I always set up in the swap meet area. About 600-700 cars where there are normally over 1000. Had some rain sprinkles early. That should be thelast show of the year. Wish I had known there were other Slicksters there.

I had a buddy bring his gator, and got to tour the whole show on the back of a gator.... that is the way to go.

I was really sad to miss the rat rod show, I loved that show last year. Nothing newer that a 64 alowed. I hate when you go to a car show and have PT cruisers, Neons, Silicons, and other jap crap.

Next year we have to meet up at one of the shows.

I missed the Pile Up this year, couldn't get anyone to go with me. That is one of the best, if not the best show of the year. I enjoy seeing some the old rods and customs that show up there, some of them were on the show cucuit back in the 60s. The Chrome Czars do a fantastic job!
