Is there a better state out there?

Post by Clearcreekcustom66 »

I live in wyoming. oh wonderful wyoming. We are famous for mainly two things: smallest population and wind. Let me tell you about this wonderful week we are having. The wind is ranging from 30mph to gusts of 110.

I have my truck bed outside right now on a stand made of drill stem 4 1/2'' by 3/8 wall heavy stuff right. well the wonderful wind picked up my truck bed and stand flipped it over and landed on my hood. so now i am out a hood and bed i have no clue. The wind also took down a horse shed of mine that was made of 2x6 rough cut lumber. I hate this state.

ANYONE WANT A ROOMMATE???

low population, no income tax,(we get paid yearly, not the other way around.)

yes there are some cold days in the winter but everything else makes up for it.

When in June are you coming to Anchorage?
King Salmon run the last of may into the first part of June. Kinda like hooking into a 40 lbs brook trout.

mmmmm alaska. when you absolutely positively must have your kids resent you for the rest of your life. move them out in the woods where there is nothing but trees and permafrost, and make them feel like they need to escape as soon as they turn 18 trying to latch onto every guy that chats her up on the internet. I have heard all about it. lol

that comment shows how little most people know about Alaska.
those who believe that crap might also believe we are an island off the west coast of the lower 48.
notice i made no derogatory comments about Wyoming or any other state.
i am happy here, thats all that really matters.
i suppose its like the slicks, your truck ,your preference on how it looks, engine, etc.

We've had quite a bit of wind here too, the last couple days...but nothing like that, I don't think. :)

I once heard that they judge the wind in Wyoming by hanging a 6' long fat chain from the end of the windsock...if the sock is standing straight out, it's REALLY blowing.

I've also ridden by bike through portions of Wyoming...pretty much the whole time was spent at a 45 degree angle to the road.
My "Slickitis" affliction began here...

Hey in California, the weather is great, you are close to the ocean, very little wind compared to other places, rust free sheet metal, BUT gas is $3.50 a gallon for the cheap stuff, you need to make 100k a year to own a house.

i may know more than some. a girl I was with had serious issues about being moved to AK when she was 13. she lived in homer, soldotna, anchorage, and other places too. she said she lived in places with no roads leaving town, only to the dock and the airport. she also told me about living in homer and having to be on a bus for hours trying to get to a place to buy girl clothes because she didnt like dressing like a fisherman. she also said there were fast food places in homer but they were all right off the dock and the place would be flooded with fishermen still covered in their jobs coming in for a sandwich every day. from the point of view of a girl that wants to have a (in her words a "normal") life and go to malls or what ever girls want to do, being limited like that and knowing she is limited like that, really pissed her off for the 8 years (she was 22 when I met her) it took to get back to the 48.

if you are into it and like it thats cool. all I am saying is not everyone is and I have seen the resentment 1st hand of someone who didnt have a choice in the matter. that lifestyle isnt for everyone.

my boss has family in homer and goes up there every summer. says it's a great place to visit and i believe him. i really wish i had the wherewithall to pack up and head thata way,but the state discourages that. they want you to have a job before you head up there and i can understand that. any truck drivers needed in ak??? i ain't skeered! lol

Well, ummmm, its like this.
Texas has no state income tax, no mud slides or wild fires, no earthquakes, and two interstate highways with an 80 MPH speed limit...
Life in the Lone Star is good indeed.

It's a race.. Will hell freeze over or will JC finish his truck first. Stay tuned..

Well, I been to many of them and lived in a lot of them. My aunt Sally lived just west of Anchorage and I can second the anger in a youth moved up there. Aunt Sally passed away and her kids still hate her. Idaho has potential but I moved there when I was 15, my sister is still mad at my parents although it wasn't as bad for me. Arizona? some places are great but summer heat in the low desert areas can suck. Texas? Last time I was there it rained 8 inches that night. Don't even start me on tornados and hurricanes! I ended up back in California, moved back when I was 19 or 20 been here ever since. Earthquakes are a heck of a lot rarer than tornados and do a lot less harm to the citizens! LOL The greatest threat here is the politicians! I live in the western Mohave and love it. Just far enough from LA (1 1/2 hours) to be safe but close enough to go there when the need arises. I am 2 1/2 hours from Las Vegas too and that never hurts my feelings at all! Hawkrod
