The FORD Gods must hate me

Post by dwbr »

you ever get that feeling that the FORD gods hate you?, every thing you do that relates to your Prized ford truck just doesn't work out, Brand new parts dont work, old parts that did work, now dont.. it just never seems to end, as a few might remember i pulled my motor to replace a few new parts the just didnt make me happy, and after a while, wifes bday, fun ford weekend, work,, i got around to putting it back together, started it up, first try, was looking good, for about a minute, then she just died, no sputter, just like i had turned the key off, after a little investigation, found the brand new HEI distributor had broke, right where the shaft connects to the gears, clean break, looks like maybe a quality control problem, weak by design item. SOMBODY just dont want this truck on the road,, maybe the gods are testing my faith, maybe i need to sacrifice a cheby.

Hey dwbr I hear ya. Working on my truck saturday, all i wanted to do was pull it out of the garage on it's own steam, time it, turn it around, and pull it back in so I can get at the front end more readily.

Needed to bleed the brakes, bled each one twice, still can't get constant pedal pressure. fired it up anyway, topped up the trans oil, and it immediately starts leaking tranny oil at the connections to the rad. Then it blows the top rad hose off for the 4th time. Howling vacuum leak that i can not find. So i decide to put the hood hinges on and the nuts just spin in the cowl. Apparently, Henry wanted me to take the weekend off. But, I did coax the sucker around, anyway. Now I can get at the stuff I need to work on, and it's the first time that truck moved on her own power for years before I even owned it. So, it's not all bad.
It's a race.. Will hell freeze over or will JC finish his truck first. Stay tuned..

i bet somewhere on that HEI distributor there was that grand little yellow or gold tag that read, " MADE IN CHINA." i would send it back. if you had it too long then buy a new one and return that one. then sell the other one on ebay to get some money back. i am sure you aren't going to hurt china's market with your one diistributor but if somehow you do then thanks from all of us who hate buying sh$t everyday when we have to go to the store.

i dont have parts problems very often as i insist on made in USA stuff.

that said the slick ford gods ( they are different ones than the fat fender, fridge, bump, etc.) like to have things the way they put them to begin with and if you get too far from that(HEI dizzy) they like to release gremlins.

I think the only HEIs the Ford Gods will allow may be the Shelby FE ones... When the day comes to replace my dizzy with something cool, Ima goin for one of them... I'll be damned if any of his stuff is made anywhere but the USA, and under anything but his own scrupulous supervision... and only $220...

i like the HEI for the simple fact of it looks a lot cleaner, no wires, no coil, plus my tach hooks right in, there are 2 wires, one for the a/c power and one for my tack.

i bought a Mallory, problem resolved

DAMN!!! those are some nice tracks!!!! I wish aggie could do that...

Is that a natural launch, or holding the brake?

Agatha might be able to do it with some brake, likely just a right track though. Only a squeak with no brakes though...

Granted, I am running a 2.75 though...
