I used to love NASCAR, I haven't watched since they allowed toyotas. When the rice crap is gone I will start watching again. If I watched one of them win nobody would want to be around me anyway, lol.

Back a few years ago I had a regular route hauling batteries for Exide...took me to Bristol quite often(weekly if not twice a week)Seems the manager of the Exide plant always had a few extra tickets to the races for truckers stranded there waiting for a load(from the plant) I never took him up on his offer of a free view...never was into roundy round but I guess different strokes.

P.S. Dont they just always change the rules when Ford starts winning???

Seems that way. I went to a race at Ft Worth once. Too crowded for me, plus I am a NHRA junkie.

We live about 10miles from TMS, but haven't been since before we had kids! Too expensive. Every now & then I catch a race (or part of one). Favorite is Dale Jr, but there are several others I pull for too. I follow the drivers' personality/driving style. Many changes-Restrictor plates, car of tomorrow...Winston to Nextel to Sprint. JT's fave is whoever's leading-LOL! Hope silly season wasn't too big-I haven't kept up with it lately.
Boy Scout mom, Camp Gladiator fitness, and Running keep me busy.

 WRONG TOPIC = SORE SPOT Here in the BiKiNi State wha.gif

I live 15 minutes from DIS. You couldn't pay me to even attend a NASCAR race anymore.
The Cars are all NAS (Not American Stock) Formula designed by NASCAR as a template car. The thoery is
all things must be equal. That's not racin'. It's an organized crap shoot. Look at the crap that's won last
3 years even though he was behind until So called Dash break took place.
And just what's that all about?
A Half time in an autoracing ? Halftime is for football, basket Ball or soccer, not Auto racing.

In "For What it's Worth" dept, This year's cheap seats that went @ $125 in'08 are going for $55. They still
can't seem to sell out. Even scalpers aren't buying them. NASCAR said that it's all about, the economy.
I believe that's very wishful thinking on the part of the powers within, up in NASCAR's new Head Office Facility
in Charlotte, NC. When they moved from here to there they took all the good jobs & people with them.

4 years ago the city of Daytona , Volusia County & State of Florida paid big $$ for the privilage to bid on
NASCAR's HAll Of FAME & Museum. Nascar did the same to several cities. NASCAR took their & our money
and the others city's too and leveraged Charlotte to up their bid based on what the rest of us had bid.
Can you guess where a new NASCAR HALL OF SHAME oh err ah FAME & Museum is located? It's in
the Queen City where NASCAR recently moved most of their jobs, head offices and business as I said.
That's after 50 years of support & discharge of all taxes to NASCAR. By discharge It is meant that. they
NASCAR PAID & STILL PAYS NO TAXES HERE .

It was a Forever deal made between Bill France Sr. a resident here, acting as NASCAR Inc, & a city, county & state
to help NASCAR get established on a notion we were in some sort of partnership in perpetuity forever.
Well They're gone to Charlotte with all of participating cities bidding fees, millions in fact' & still pay no taxes.
How'd you like a deal like that? I bet Bill France Sr. is writhing in his grave over it. He was Honorable & honest.

HMMmm :hm:
I wonder why I am not interested in watchnig NASCAR fix racing break time honored deals
& not run American Iron anymore?
shrug.gif

yeah I'm disgruntled alright, So I really could care less about them. They belong an Wall Street. . . . . :2cents:

I have a friend who was a welder for Roush's Busch Series teams. He said the cars have a few square inches of a "stock" floor board.

I have never been to a big league nascar race. But I've been going to my local saturday night short track since I was 5, and I would much rather freeze in the stands there, than sit on a comfy couch and watch a race on tv. I have been racing there for 2 years now and its the most fun I have ever had.

These guys should be on tv instead of the cup series. But I guess they don't have enough room for advertising on them...

I was going to attend the Feb. race at California Speedway but figured I'd save my money because I'm going to the Vegas race the first week of March. I already have season tickets for the 2nd California date in Oct.
I plan to go to Phoenix in April too, if I can get the time off.
I love NASCAR racing. I used to go with my dad when I was a kid. Sure the sport has evolved, but it's still a great sport. Beating and banging at 200 mph :D It's a man's sport.
Sure beats the hell out of watching a bunch of over-paid crybabies chase a ball around...

The President of NASCAR said today that they had reduced ticket prices due to the strong possibility that the Daytona 500 would not be a sell out.
He said when they saw the Dolphins were notselling out, they adjusted prices.
Frank66, stick to your guns. The racing you guys are doing is the type I ran back in the 60s. I would pay to see you guys race before I would take free admission and a Limo ride to the track for a NASCAR race!

Sorry to open the can of worms, just happen to enjoy watchin' the race on Sunday afternoons or listening to it while working on the slick. I do agree that they messed it up when the money took over and the "Chase" is a joke, but theres nothin like standing on the frontstretch of Talledega when they blow by at 200mph... or Atlanta, if the tickets are free!

It sucks that they are all cookie cutter "cars" yeah they go 200, but it disappoints me that they have put the kaibash on any actual mechanical competition. They should be going faster every year. Let the teams fight it out with horsepower.

the hometown races, dirt track and all that are so much more entertaining.

The reason for the cut in horsepower was strictly for safety purposes after Bobby Allison became airborne and got up in the catch fence at over 200 mph at Talladega Superspeedway in the late 80's, showering the spectators with vehicle debris...
Sort of the same thing as the NHRA shortening the 1/4 mile dragstrip after the death of Scott Kalitta...
Still beats stick and ball.
