Pictures - Its back in one piece, yay!

Post by Effie »

I started to say "finished" F100 pics, but it's far from finished. These are just updated pics. Some from the show, some from some places I stopped on the way home.

From my other thread, ya'll know we were getting down to the wire. Some was my own fault for not using my time wisely. But Thursday we took it for a test drive, put probably 50 miles on it. Got home and finished the details, like I covered the door panels, and we were putting in the headliner at 2am Thursday night/Friday morning. Then we got up at 6:30 Friday and headed to Pigeon Forge, TN for the truck show. I stopped for gas and calculated 12mpg, not bad, but my speedo isn't hooked up, my brother was following me and says, "do you know you're running like 75-80?" I was like, uh no! I figured he would have called if I needed to hammer down or let off. Haha. Anyhow, yeah, the dang thing runs gooooooood. :thumbup

So here's some pics from the show:

There was a real nice '56 parked next to me and I got all artsy-fartsy with the reflection in my baby moons.

Then on the way home I stopped at this covered bridge and took a couple pics:

Yes, I'm putting the trim back down the sides. I'm gonna try to strip the anodizing and polish it and clean it up before I go and drop $600 on a whole new set of aluminum trim. I also have NOS fender emblems, but the holes were too small due to paint build up, so I gotta drill it out some before I can put them on.

Anyhow, I had a great time at the truck show. I'll post more pics later, right now, it's time for bed. :)

Your truck looks great! Thanks for sharing the photos.
BTW: What are you planning on using to get the anodize off your trim? Let us know how it turns out.

VERY pretty Truck Melissa. That shiny black paint and those chrome steelies and baby moons are pure poetry! Glad to see you have her on the road again!

Milissa, are you the same girl that I use to talk with about ten years ago. At the time we were both pretty active on the FTE web pages. I finally got to meet you at Pigeon Forge. I had the purple 56 F-100. Are you the same girl?

Oh My God, yes!! How are you?! I thought about you awhile back, but couldn't find you on the internet anywhere. I'll send you a PM. ;)

Thanks everybody for the replies and comments. :) I talked to Tom [6166junkyardog] and he told me about some kinda acid truckers use that I might try to find. I have some old pieces of trim laying around I'm gonna try before I experiment with my good trim. I'll let ya'll know what happens.

Melissa,

Eastwood sells a stripper for anodizing. Don't know how good it works, but their products are usually good. I used sandpaper and elbow grease on my grille.....

What a pleasant surprise to once again find you after all this time. Like you I was trying to locate you a while back. I had found Dave's old e-mail address and tried it but it bounced. I think it was his e-mail before he had left his wife. Do you ever hear from him anymore? Anyway, I am going to try and make it to Altoona next year. I will see how many slicks I can haul up on the trailer just to keep all the guys in the truck stops on their toes.

Melissa,
Your truck looks great put back together. I knew it would after seeing the after paint pics. The Pigeon Forge show was an event I was hoping to make as I was finishing up the work on my ride, but I need a little more time. Great job at pushing yourself to get it put back together and reaching your goal.
Oh, and those wheels are perfect for a black truck!

Melissa,
Your truck looks great finished. I am glad to see that you got done by your deadline.
I will post some pics from the F100 Western Nationals last weekend and I took one just like you did with the truck in the hubcap.
Congrats,
Kevin
