When you start out the day

Post by Gritsngumbo »

at 80 degrees and 79 percent humidity you know it's going to be a HOT day.
Planning on pulling the Y-Block out of the 63 Uni today and get started cleaning it up and getting it painted. Yesterday topped off at 101 degrees and 50% humidity. When you walk outside you are immediately soaked from head to toe. Lots of Gatorade cocktails on the menu today.
If you understand what you’re doing, you’re not learning anything.

Grits.
The Texas gulf coast was blessed with about 90 degrees and 100% humidity yesterday too.
Inside the warehouse it was over 120.
Think I'll start working around midnight.

I have too! It's still hot then. Night wouldn't be too bad, except for the skeeters.

The only good thing about humidity, is you don't have to shovel it.

But it drains the energy out of you, keeps you soaked and wet... normally don't mind it but when I'm in the garage working I absolutely hate it. It's why you can get twice as much accomplished on those breezy Fall days than in August. :x

After an extremely cold winter here, I had great plans for getting a lot done during the spring...which I think lasted only one day here. Went from too cold and wet to too hot and wet. Just have to play the hands we're dealt.

110 here yesterday. Don't leave your tools in the sun. Can't even touch them. But as everyone say's "it's a dry heat". So is an oven.

I long for the "dry desert heat" of Nevada!

We've had a streak of really NICE weather here in Indiana this past weekend and Monday and today. Low humidity and highs in the 70's.

I was painting the underbody of the '62 Saturday and Sunday.

Hotter weather is on the way, though. It IS the season for it.....

Oh good grief, what are ya'll whining about?
Tomorrow I'll be working under a tire curing press. When a tire comes out of the press after being cured it will be close to 300 degrees.
I'll be taking the press out of production and doing some PM work and there is no cool down time.
Average temperature in my department is 90+ year 'round.

I been at this job for 10yrs and I have learned that fussing about the heat does NOT make it any cooler.

Low Country life is similar, Grits. We have to powerwash houses at least 1x per year, 2x or 3x is better to keep the algae, mold and Spanish Moss from growing into the siding.
Today was actually nice, it didn't get over 95 and I had a breeze, and put up one of the party canopies for shade.
I sure hope to get the 460 back together and get her running again SOON.
