MIG Welders

Post by Gritsngumbo »

Still not able to buy, but looking at welders again to compare and decide when the day comes. Anyone know anything about the welders Eastwood's is selling? I figure they are made by one of the majors and they are just selling it under their "store" brand? I'm considering: the Hobart at Tractor Supply, the Lincoln at Loews and one of the Eastwood's units. I hate Hobart's customer service as parts are always back ordered at least two weeks. Don't think the keep anything in stock, but if that's the best choice then so be it. Thanks.

Grits, I have had that lil "nascar" lincoln mig from Lowes and man it works great. sometimes I get too carried away and well too much too fast and that seems to force me to run out of wire. then my spool isnt adjusted when I change it over and then I lose about 10 feet on the new spool, but other than that I have no complaints at all

I have a Hobart 140 that I got at TSC. With Gas cost me $400. It is 110v so I can go any place I want and YOU DO NEED THE GAS. The other flux core stuff is crap and not good for much at all.

Can't go wrong with Lincoln or Miller, others are good too but you really do get what you pay for.

I have the Lincoln SP-135 Plus Mig welder as well and love it! I look at it as a defibrillator for my Slick.

Last year I got a Lincoln Precision TIG 225 and took some classes on TIG welding. Oh man, you want to add an addiction to your plate...

It was my understanding that miller and hobart are the same welder. Except hobart uses slightly cheaper components.

I was told that you could swap out the cheaper parts for the miller parts.

I have a hobart handler 140. I am also expecting delivery of a hobart airforce plasma cutter on friday. (just dont tell my wife) :D
