DELL=CRAP

Like who cares anyway!!! I haven't done much too my truck because of the glacier (well six inches of ice) it is on. High altitude, no garage. It is getting warm now, so back to work. I havent posted or even lurked for a couple of months because it took that long to get my (third)AC adapter from DELL (chinese part, wire frays, fire hazard). Customer service in India kept telling me they were going to send me one, would give me an order#, then no adapter would be sent and I'd call again and deal with these people again while they told me there was no record of my call/invoice and so I'd go through the whole process again, to no avail. After a dozen or so tries I finally got them so send me the adaptor. Oh yeah, they also billed me for it after telling me it was complimentary.(and sent me the same POS adapter) THANKS DELL!!! Sorry about the rant but I thought you guys would like to know since some you will be buying computers in the near future. I lived in Austin for a while and thought they were a good American company, I didn"t know they were based in China/India. :shock: By the way I don't care where you are from, I'm just trying to support our economy.

Well, glad to see you!

I went thru the same crap when I had a Dell, so I can empathize/sympathize.

Yeah, my new cord looks like it might have about another few weeks left in it, so it's time to dump the hard drive on to a portable one and buy a decent computer. The e-machines I got for free with rebates was much more durable than this piece of junk.

I'm using a Dell 8200 that we bought used about 4yrs ago.
We have never had a bit of trouble out of it, knock on wood.

Most of these companies are doing things that way it seems now. I ran through something similar with my Compaq. I have all kinds of Certifications,Dell,Apple,etc and all are like that. But I believe the worst I have dealt with is apple. I will not ever have one myself. I have sent so many back this year I probably sent back at least 20% where I work. I sent one that was purchased in Sept. 06 yesterday back for the 3rd time for the same problem. Their commercials are a hoot but in reality I have had a lot of hardware issues. The problem I have noticed with Apple is that it seems to cook itself up from the heat it produces. If you do have a Dell they have a 3 strikes and its out policy. At least they did a while back.If you have trouble with hardware 3 times while it is under warranty they give you a new one. If you get Boppa from Deli again insist you speak to someone in America. You cause enough flack they will eventually send you back to USA.

I had the same thing happen to my kids computer, The indian(dot not feather) told me to take the cover off and fix it myself. 3 years ago I went to a computer store picked out all the components I wanted and had them build my computer. The problem with computers such as dell, hp and others is that they are proprietary. meaning you can only upgrade certain components and only with their crappy components. I have never had one bit of trouble with my system. When I want to upgrade a component I take it to a store or my buddy and poof it is upgraded in about 10 minutes. You may not get a warranty but do you really get one with these computer companies. Just somethin to think about the next time you buy a computer :)
