Gas welding tips

Post by TOMJAK11 »

I have a medical condition which will not allow me to arc weld. I would like to learn to gas weld and then teach my boy. I'd even do a slick vacation road trip to look over a should. [/i]

i taught myself how to braze weld when i was about 14 years old...
get the oxygen & acetylene bottles with a torch set ...
some brazing rod & flux , goggles and gloves
and practice and practice
disadvantage of brazing VS arc welding is penatration
arc is much stronger on heavier material ( think frame )
youtube is a great way to learn things also ....

a good welding supply business will give you tips too

I have felt the tingling sensation, and then realized I was touching the metal.

Pacemaker/ defib can't begin the area hem there's mig welding. Shouldn't even go under the hood of a running car.

Tom good to hear . I looked at it for years before I bit the bullet . I honestly got it more for its cutting ability than welding . I have a 185 amp Mig for welding but I do intend to play with some copper , stainless and aluminum with it :D. I figure I couldnt get a good plasma cutter ( used ) for what I have invested in the torch ( and the $250.00 ) I paid for a nice set of bottles and cart off of craigslist .
